Rebuilding a Deck: Why Doing It Right Matters
Anything built with timber requires ongoing maintenance. That’s just the reality. But if you want something to truly stand the test of time, it has to be built properly from the ground up.
Unfortunately, not all builders take that approach. Too often, we see decks that have been put together using shortcuts—quicker, cheaper methods that might look fine at first but don’t last. And when those shortcuts start to fail, it’s not the builder who deals with the consequences… it’s the homeowner. What was meant to be a simple outdoor space quickly turns into a costly and frustrating repair job.
That’s where we come in.
At I Can Fix That (ICFT), we believe in doing it right the first time. No shortcuts. No compromises.
Built From the Ground Up.
When we recently took on a deck rebuild, our focus was simple: quality, durability, and longevity.
We used: Treated pine or hardwood for strong, reliable framing bearer and joist protection tape to extend the life of the structure, galvanised bugle screws for secure fixing and galvanised twist-lock decking nails to ensure long-term hold.
Every material we use is chosen for a reason—because it helps the deck last longer and perform better in real-world conditions.
Progress in Just Three Days.
In just three days, we transformed the structure into a solid, well-built deck that the client can rely on for years to come.
There are still a few finishing touches to complete—applying decking oil, installing plinths, and trimming the deck edges—but the heavy lifting is done, and the results speak for themselves.
The Difference Is in the Details
Anyone can build a deck that looks good on day one.
Not everyone builds a deck that still looks and performs well years down the track.
That difference comes down to care, experience, and a commitment to quality.
And that’s exactly what we stand for.
