Building Queensland’s future starts with building a skilled workforce.

It was a pleasure to welcome Dan Purdie MP to Diggerman Training to discuss the challenges facing our industry and the practical solutions needed to attract, train, and retain the next generation of workers.

We’re committed to creating pathways into construction and helping industry meet workforce demands both now and into the future.

DIGGERMAN Training are playing a vital role in equipping trainees with the skills and licences required for work in the construction industry. It was great to visit their training center in Coolum Beach to see firsthand how they are helping to address the massive skill shortage with innovative programs to get more young people entering the industry.

It's an exciting time for the training industry with record levels of government investment in local infrastructure projects driving the demand for skilled workers.

10,381 new apprentices have begun training across Queensland so far this financial year - almost 3,000 of those in construction - and we've seen record numbers of new qualified trainees and apprentices ready to enter the workforce under the Crisafulli Government.

We are getting the workforce back on track and building a pipeline of tradies who'll help deliver our generational infrastructure program.

For decades Aussies were told the only path to a high income was university… but new salary data says otherwise.

Thanks Coolum State High School 🚧🦺👷🏼👷🏼‍♀️

A group of Year 11 and 12 students completed a ‘𝘊𝘗𝘊𝘞𝘏𝘚1001 – 𝘗𝘳𝘦𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬 𝘴𝘢𝘧𝘦𝘭𝘺 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘶𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘪𝘯𝘥𝘶𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘺’ course recently, and successfully obtained their 𝘞𝘩𝘪𝘵𝘦 𝘊𝘢𝘳𝘥. This is a nationwide license, certifying that a person has completed training on safety regulations, hazards, and emergency procedures, allowing them to work on all types of construction sites.

Stephen ‘Fingers’ Muir from DIGGERMAN Training not only delivered and assessed the course but also regaled the students with motivational stories of how he overcame adversity to work towards representing Australia at the 1984 Paralympic games.

A massive thank you to DIGGERMAN Training and to Stephen for helping these students begin their journey into the construction industry.

🏗️ Twin Waters West Development Update

This project is progressing steadily, with major development works shaping a large new masterplanned community on the Sunshine Coast.

It’s set to generate significant local employment opportunities, with ongoing activity across large-scale earthworks, civil construction, landscaping, and future community infrastructure.

With a strong pipeline of construction works ahead, there will be continued demand across machine operators, civil contractors, trades, suppliers, and supporting industries throughout the development phase.
