Don't buy lighting from Temu. About once a month I need to refuse to install something a client has provided because it's not legal to install in Australia.

This young lad Hamish just wrapped up a week of work experience.

It’s unfortunate nothing really rhymes with Hamish… I was unable to come up with an appropreate nickname for him. In spite of that shortcomming he did a great job!

On day one he jumped straight on the shovel in blistering sun for an underground consumer main. No complaints, no slowing down. He helped install a new freestanding switchboard, disconnect and re-run a shed feed, and put in a generator input.

In Goolwa he was up on the roof with me rewiring an old place with cable that had fallen apart to the point that a lot of it was just bare copper. He also helped me fault test a switchboard upgrade.

We chased a lighting fault in Finniss, installed a rangehood in Milang, and knocked over an 80m underground at Currency Creek. He worked alongside a demolition crew, a roofing crew, and interacted well with every client.

Good attitude, good work ethic, and no dramas all week. That’ll take him a long way in this trade.
