Every warehouse we walk into swears it's out of space. Most aren't, they're just laid out wrong:

“Add more aisles for easier access.”
Sounds practical. Every extra aisle is storage you gave up, the right narrow-aisle system recovers it without losing accessibility.

“You've maxed out the floor, time to relocate.”
Sounds logical. The average warehouse only uses 68% of its footprint before anyone's even looked up.

“Vertical space is a later problem.”
Sounds fine to defer. A mezzanine can double usable floor space without moving sites, if roof height and load path were checked from day one.

“Buy racking to fit the space you have.”
Sounds obvious. It's backwards, the fit-out should start from what you're storing and how fast it moves, then build the space around it.

“One layout works for the whole warehouse.”
Sounds efficient. Fast-moving stock, bulk storage and cold chain each want a different configuration in the same building.

Space isn't something most warehouses run out of. It's something they're already sitting on and not using.
