I like Black Butt and I cannot lie 🎶 After ➡️ Before

This deck addition is the perfect example of the owners creating a beautiful outdoor entertaining area out of what was a dead space.

🔨 We built a landing off the living room, and tiered the steps down for easy access

🔨 The owners also tasked us with screening off the end of the yard which made a HUGE difference

🔨 Looks can be deceiving - this table comfortably seats 6!

We're stoked this couple decided to go with our recommendation of Blackbutt. It truly comes up a treat!

Look familiar? Tiled patios are common in homes all over Australia but when tiles start to look tired, it's time for a refresh ➡️ to see this in progress.

We recently teamed up with our mates at to improve this deck in Byron Bay.

🔨 We cleared landscaping at the back where the fence is
🔨 This extended the usable space by about 30%
🔨 Beautiful spotted gum decking is now being laid over the new framing

This project is on hold 🤚 thanks to the current Byron Bay lockdown, but we'll be back with the finished product soon!

Custom built planter boxes made from reclaimed timber

🔨 The owners of this sloping corner block didn't have too much privacy despite their large fence

🔨 BHC built planter boxes made from hardwood timber that we rescued from a deck that was pulled down in another part of the yard

🔨 A few Golden Cane palms, some Power Feed and drenching of the Queensland sun, and now this pool area feels like a private tropical oasis

STAIRWAY HEAVEN | After ➡ Before

⛏ First impressions count! The old internal entry to this house was pokey and made it hard to open the door to the main bedroom, located to the left of the front door

⛏ We increased the size of the entry by pushing the front door out 1 metre, which created more space in the internal entrance

⛏ A new 1200mm feature door was installed

⛏ Spotted gum hardwood stairs with a wire balustrade were installed, which now make an impressive first impression

WALL IN | This crumbly old block retaining wall was barely doing the job. Not only was a potential hazard, but it was kind of unsightly too 🙈

We rebuilt the whole thing in treated pine, and kept the look crisp with several coats of hard-wearing white paint. A couple of new garden beds on this previously unused area and some new turf really sets this area off 👌

AFTER ⬅ BEFORE | We love the instant WOW factor from that comes from updated stairs. These were prominent internal stairs and the curved details really dated the look of both floors. New balustrade, new handrail, new carpet and a lick of paint completely transforms the whole appearance of this house.
