We've been treating a lot of German cockroach jobs lately...
One thing we always make sure customers understand is that German cockroaches are very rarely a one-visit job—and that's not because the treatment doesn't work.
What we see time and time again is the first treatment knocks the population right back, but over the next couple of weeks you'll notice a few more appear. That's usually the eggs hatching. The egg case protects them from most insecticides, so it's completely normal to need a follow-up treatment to break the breeding cycle.
Another thing we've noticed is that people often think they're coming from outside. In reality, they're usually living somewhere warm and hidden inside the home. The places we find them most often are behind fridges, under dishwashers, around hot water systems, inside kitchen cupboards and even inside coffee machines and microwaves.
A few things you might not know:
• One female can produce 30–40 babies from a single egg case.
• They don't need a dirty house. We've treated spotless homes with heavy infestations.
• If you're seeing them during the day, it's often because there's simply not enough room for them to hide anymore.
• We've found them hiding in coffee machines, air fryers, toasters, gaming consoles and even power boards—if it's warm, they'll give it a go.
The earlier you deal with German cockroaches, the easier they are to control. Once they become established, they multiply incredibly quickly.
If you've started seeing the small tan cockroaches around your kitchen, don't ignore them. They won't disappear on their own.
