I have bitten the bullet and purchased some new equipment for locating and exposing underground assets.
Part of our line up now is a ground penetrating radar (GPR), new buried cable locator, new water pipe and leak detector and a trailer mounted hydro vacuum excavator.
I still have a few more items to purchase and a lot of training to do but in the end I will apply and hopefully get my ‘dial before you dig’ accreditation.

Saturday was my first real go at locating with the GPR and successfully finding a Telstra buried fibre optic cable about .9m underground, then using the hydro excavator to expose it as we will be installing a new set of underground commercial mains cables under this conduit in the near future
