It was great to catch up with some of our First Nations business partners at the Toowoomba and Surat Basin Enterprise Indigenous Business Connector breakfast held in Roma last week.
MPKโs commitment to its Reconciliation Action Plan (Innovate) last year delivered positive outcomes, with our company doubling its engagement of First Nations businesses.
Our First Nations business partnerships for services and supplies increased from 9 Supply Nation members in 2025 to 18 in 2026, resulting in an $11.5+ million investment.
Weโve continued to make good on our commitment to provide First Nations businesses in the Surat Basin with genuine opportunities, so they can participate in the delivery of large-scale projects for gas developers Santos Ltd, Arrow and Origin Energy.
First Nations businesses are now providing us with plant and labour hire, tools and equipment, light vehicles, calibration and testing, traffic and vegetation management, workforce PPE, tunnel boring, electrical works, office stationery and potable water.
But we couldnโt do it alone, and a huge shout out goes to TSBEโs Indigenous Business Connector Ashley Williams, who has been instrumental in connecting us with 10 local First Nations businesses within the TSBE network.
Weโre now implementing our new 2026-28 RAP across company operations and looking forward to further positive First Nations business partnership outcomes.
