Thanks for all your comments about my tablecloth linen shirt. I decided in the end to leave it alone and have happily worn it twice already! In order to scratch the embroidery itch I thrifted a shirt ($12, Muji, double gauze, label on!!) and here I go. I’m using the ‘Zine of the Zodiac’, a small collection of embroidery motifs by Marilla Walker, starting with my sign, Libra. Enjoying the last remnants of the autumn afternoon sunshine while listen to Alan Bennet’s audiobook, Enough Said.

Finished! Only 18 months later and just in time for winter 😂. Thanks for the inspo , your WIP weekend challenge got this piece moving from box to body! Horray.
I used a thrifted linen table cloth and some thrifted buttons for my shirt. Still trying to decide if this is part 1 of the journey and whether to embroider something over the top!! I’ll post about my thought process soon but until then, it will be hanging happily in my wardrobe.

Finished! I did it, 18 months later and I’ve finished my shirt. Thanks for the inspo for the WIP weekend challenge. It’s finally done. It may be only part 1 as I’m considering adding some bold embroidery over the top of the existing embroidery. I’ll show you my thought process soon, but in the meantime, it’s staying just as it is!

Are you joining the WIP weekend challenge? I’ve decided to finish this cute shirt using a linen and lace tablecloth I found. It’s all cut out but that’s as far as I’ve got. I am wanting to add some embroidery over the top, let’s see if that’s a step too far 😂 (18 months and counting to get to this point!)

I’m currently travelling in Japan 🇯🇵 and my Marden shirt has been a winner! It’s the first time I’ve made this shirt and I went straight into it without making a toile (I know, I know!) Anyway, the sewing gods were smiling down on me and it’s the perfect fit. It’s ended up being a light jacket as opposed to a shirt as I used a slightly heavier drill. It’s also worked well with multiple layers underneath as the weather is getting cooler and cooler as October progresses. The fabric choice has given it more structure and a bit more volume which I’m kinda loving! I also added this oversize pocket which runs into the bottom panel, perfect for a baguette or long ruler (you never know!) and I’m also incredibly impressed by the sleeve plackets and cuffs as they’ve never been my forte until now. Lots of details to love about this shirt.

Charity shop haul! There is nothing I love more than a rummage in the fabric bins at a charity shop. All pieces are around 1-1.5m and I paid $6 a metre. I love the possibilities that spring to mind with every piece. Clearly I’m loving a check!! I’m always open to a suggestion! Hit me up.
