The tiniest houses I’ve ever worked on, these are remote huts dotted around the island of South Georgia, used for w**d eradication and science outposts. Mostly built in the 70s they are an intriguing mix of heritage and patchwork.

So far we have worked on three different huts, bordering glaciers, lakes and wildlife colonies. Avalanches and calving glaciers can be heard in the background as we work.

Most of them need new windows, doors and floors, some just need resupply and a coat of paint. All the materials are marched over the hills or dropped off by zodiac boats, exhausting and rewarding, never a dull moment.

It’s been a while since I posted, largely because I closed my business. My current news is that I’m still building, after a welcome hiatus from construction work I landed a carpentry job with the Government of South Georgia, I’m now surrounded by mountains on a remote island in the middle of the south Atlantic.

Enjoy a pretty serious photo dump with relatively few work shots. Expect a few more work updates over the coming months.

TC Tiny has reluctantly closed its doors, Australia's rapidly rising construction costs have forced the business to become unsustainable.

After 15 years of self employment across a multitude of different industries I'm exhausted, and sad but also proud and relieved. I'm definitely looking forward to simpler job where I can work a little less and earn a little more.

Thankyou to all the supporters, customers, assistants and collaborators from the Tiny House world and from back in the good old playground building days.

I've cleared out the workshop and sold all but the basic tools so I won't be making a comeback until I grow tired of working indoors. All my articles and documents for the last 5 years are still available on my website for now and I'll leave this page open along with Instagram for the near future.

Important notice: I do not currently have any Tiny House contracts in the pipe line, a few plans fell through last minute which has left me with an empty workshop. As a result I will soon be closing the Tiny House business in favour of pursuing a career in Design.

For anyone considering purchasing a TC Tiny, there is still time to make it happen but please don't delay. Tiny House building is an expensive habit so I won't keep the business open past July without contracts.

I would love to build more of these, The Ned Kelly has 6 years of development behind it, utilises 20 years of skills and about a century of science.

There are a few houses on the ground which still sit within their 12 month warrantee, I'll still honour the products until the end of that period.

It's based on my own Tiny houses but I believe this link is true of all fire resilient houses and is worthy of further investigation.

Best delivery ever!

Rick, Kez and the Uni-Mog towed the Ned Kelly from Geelong to central NSW and up a dirt track to a height of 500m altitude.

It was a sight to see on the roads, attracting attention from every direction.
