When we first walked through Buckley Project, the clients didn't need a different house. They needed the one they had to work harder for them.
The footprint was staying. Rather than push out and add more, we looked at what was already there: the roof line, the height in the ceiling, the way the light moved through the day. We opened up the living area, kept the raked ceiling and exposed beams, and added a skylight over the kitchen to bring in light from above. A window above the sink now looks straight out to the garden and the paddock beyond.
We also wanted the kitchen to feel like it belonged to the people living in it. Our clients chose the colour, and it works beautifully against the timber floors and the stools they already owned. Those stools sit at the island like they were made for it.
Our biggest love is honouring what already makes a home unique and maximising its potential. Every house has something worth building on, and our job is to find it with our clients.
