The thing about getting older is that you do get wiser! 😄

On reflection, I really wish I’d bought one of these 10 years ago.

The Hytile Lifter has been a total game-changer for safely transporting up to 5 panels from the ground to the roof (depending on the pitch).

It also massively reduces the strain on your body—no more heavy lifting straight from ground to roof!"

The off-grid world is becoming much more accessible thanks to advancements in battery technology—both in energy density and power output.

Making the break from the hustle and bustle more realistic and affordable!

Designing an effective off-grid system requires careful consideration of several key factors, including:

- Current consumption (comparing on-grid usage to off-grid requirements)
- Battery autonomy (how many days the system can run without solar input or recharging)
- Surge ratings (handling high startup loads from appliances)
- Electric vehicle integration via V2X (vehicle-to-everything capabilities for bidirectional power)
- Generator runtime and surge assistance (backup support during extended low-solar periods)

This client, based in southern Tasmania, worked with us over a year and a half to refine and perfect the design—tailored precisely to their current needs and future-proofed for what's ahead.

We’ve been a bit quiet lately — between the battery rebate in full swing since June 2025 and welcoming our newest little team member (our baby boy!), life has been wonderfully busy.

We haven’t kept you properly updated on what’s happening in the home battery storage world, so we’d like to change that.

Starting this month, we plan to share one post each month featuring our “Install of the Month”. In each one we’ll cover:
- the backstory of the installation
- why we designed and installed the system the way we did
- what the system is doing for the client right now — and what it will deliver for them long into the future

The goal is to give you real value and insight rather than filling your feed with constant posts.

We’ll also keep you in the loop on the latest with the rebate — where it stands today and how it’s likely to be structured moving forward.

On top of that, we’ve put together a free booklet that cuts through the noise in the market. It covers the key things people need to know, busts some common myths, and includes links for anyone who wants to dig deeper and do their own research (DYOR).

We’re really looking forward to sharing more with you over the coming months.

Thanks so much for your support and for sticking with us.

Warm regards, Ross, Lisa, Freya and Auggie

Hi Everyone!

We introduced ourselves last week with the goal of informing you as best we can about the upcoming battery rebate, which goes live on July 1! 🌞

As noted last week, this isn’t about spamming or selling batteries—it’s just to inform, with links for your own furhter research.

**Pelverata Off Grid**

We have been working with this client for over a year and a half, refining their system by evaluating whether a ground mount PV array would better suit the feel of their sanctuary or if installing the panels on the roof—a more cost-effective solution—would meet their design specifications. Ultimately, we chose a solution that still achieved their design goals.

The previous and current temporary solution involved 330Ah AGM batteries, which were unfortunately not monitored during the entire period since the system was purchased. They are currently holding only a 60% state of charge (SOC), underscoring the importance of proper monitoring.

**Installation specifics:**
- 6.6kW solar array
- MPPT solar charger 450/200
- Inverter charger 5000 50/70
- Cerbo GX system communications
- GX 7-inch display
- Lynch distributor with 4-pole fusing

Soon, lithium batteries and a new integrated generator will be installed completing the system overhual.

Second Off-Grid Install

Our second off-grid setup in Southern Tasmania repurposed the Victron EasySolar 2 3000 150/70, an older but solid inverter.

The nickel-iron batteries couldn’t sustain winter demand, causing frequent generator use.

Upgrades:
✅ Added Pylontech battery cabinet with 2x US2500 24V lithium batteries
✅ Integrated Victron Lynx Distributor with double-pole breakers per battery
✅ Upgraded to Victron Cerbo GX for direct battery management (no more SmartShunt)
✅ Installed 7” Cerbo GX display for easier system access

A more efficient, reliable system with reduced generator reliance! This will service the clients needs for quite sometime.

📍 On-Site at a Local Farm!

Today, we’re installing an advanced Energy Monitor at a local farm. With two businesses operating on the same property, we’re here to track and analyze energy usage. Our goal? To determine which business consumes more power and identify any potential energy leaks—helping us design the most efficient solar system and maximize energy savings.

This Energy Monitor also comes with a user-friendly mobile app packed with useful features. You can even upload your energy bill to compare rates and find better deals, saving you even more.

Stay tuned as we uncover new energy-saving opportunities.

Optimizing Energy Use on a Bespoke Farm

For the past four months, we’ve been monitoring energy usage at this small bespoke farm to understand how it operates through a full season.

Our focus is on two key areas: identifying and addressing any excess energy leakage and gathering the data needed to design a tailored solar system for the business.

With the right insights, we can create an energy solution that maximizes efficiency and long-term savings - Then we can Design a tailored solar system to suit this Business.
