GNC Building & Construction Group is a Western Australian owned and operated business specialising in precast concrete manufacturing, civil infrastructure products, modular housing solutions and commercial construction projects.

Based in Geraldton, WA, we supply products and services to local government, civil contractors, builders, developers and infrastructure projects throughout Western Australia.

As part of our continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Senior Estimator / Commercial Manager to take ownership of our estimating and pre-contracts function and play a key role in the next stage of the company's expansion.

This is not a corporate desk job.

We are looking for someone who can work autonomously, think commercially, identify opportunities, build relationships and contribute directly to the growth and profitability of the business.

The Role

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will be responsible for:

• Preparing detailed estimates, quotations and tender submissions

• Reviewing drawings, specifications, scopes of work and contract documents

• Performing quantity take-offs and first-principles estimating

• Obtaining and assessing supplier and subcontractor pricing

• Identifying scope gaps, commercial risks and value engineering opportunities

• Negotiating with clients, consultants, suppliers and subcontractors

• Assisting with contract reviews and pre-contract negotiations

• Developing and improving estimating systems, templates and procedures

• Supporting business development activities and tender opportunities

• Assisting with strategic pricing across precast, civil and modular housing projects

Projects May Include

• Precast concrete manufacturing

• Civil infrastructure projects

• Drainage and wastewater infrastructure

• Government and local authority contracts

• Commercial construction projects

• Modular housing developments

• Property development projects

About You

The successful applicant will possess:

• Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying or similar qualifications

• Building Practitioner Registration or Building Licence highly regarded

• Minimum 8 years estimating experience within construction, civil, precast or related industries

• Strong understanding of concrete construction and civil works

• Ability to read and interpret engineering and construction drawings

• Excellent commercial and analytical skills

• Strong negotiation and communication abilities

• High attention to detail

• Ability to operate independently with minimal supervision

• Strong organisational and time management skills

The quality of the speakers, presentations and discussions highlighted the significant opportunities that exist across housing, infrastructure, resources, manufacturing and regional development.

Great to see the Geraldton Guardian feature our advanced precast modular housing initiative this week.

WELDER / FABRICATOR WANTED.
GERALDTON / GREENOUGH PRECAST YARD
GNC are looking for a capable Welder Fabricator to join our busy precast yard.
This is a hands-on, full-time role suited to someone who takes pride in their work and can work unsupervised.
The role: • Welding and fabrication work on precast molds.
• Plasma and oxy cutting (an advantage)
• General yard support as required
• Working in an active precast manufacturing environment
Highly regarded (but not essential): • Forklift licence & experience
• Truck driving licence
• Mechanical aptitude or experience
• Strong all-round, can-do attitude
The offer: • Full-time position (part-time or casual considered for the right person)
• Monday to Friday – core hours 7:00am to 4:30pm
• Option for extra hours
• Weekly pays
• Super paid on all hours worked
• Local role – be home every night

Well… talk about timing.

After two days of, emails, reviews, “portable placement” debates, and enough internal chatter at the City of Geraldton to sink a submarine… we’ve finally got the official word.

The Yellow Submarine and the new GNC signage are approved to stay exactly where they are.
No applications. No fees. No dramas. Just… stay portable.

Perfect.
Because now that the Pentagon has recognised GNC Quality Precast in Greenough as the premier builder of the new Concrete-Class AUKUS Submarines, we can finally get on with the important stuff.

Couldn’t have cut it any closer. Imagine trying to launch an international defence contract while arguing about whether a submarine can sit on a stand next to Brand Highway or the location of a sign.

But in all seriousness — a genuine thank you to the City of Greater Geraldton staff, planners, managers, compliance team and councillors who dealt with this circus over the last 48 hours. Appreciate the quick turnaround and the favourable outcome.

Now… back to building world-class submarines out of concrete. As you do.
