They asked for a report… we delivered a GNSS-RTK GIS Utility Map. 📍

Before construction of their new home could commence, the client was required to provide a site report showing the underground utilities already installed across the property.

We located the:
⚡ Underground power
📡 Future NBN conduits
🚽 Sewer/HSTP
🌧️ Stormwater

But rather than simply documenting what we found in a written report, we captured the located services using our Emlid Reach RX2 GNSS-RTK rover and provided the client with a GIS utility map of the property.

Now they don't just have a report — they have a spatially referenced digital record of their underground infrastructure that can be retained, referred back to and updated with additional utilities as the property develops.

Paint marks fade. Good spatial records don't.

Underground power installations always start with the most satisfying part of the job: a nice, neat trench!

We're getting everything prepped to lay down some reliable two-phase underground cable. No mess, no fuss, just clean lines and top-tier rural electrical prep.

Building a new shed, prepping a vacant block, or upgrading your property power in the Gympie region?

Skip the overhead lines and go underground.

We recently assisted with a new house application on a battle-axe property, where the draftsman needed the existing property reference points captured in relation to the proposed house location.

The nearest property corner was approximately 40 metres from the new house corners, with bush scrub and even a dam between the reference points and the building area.

Using our Emlid Reach RX2 GNSS/GIS rover, we captured the required points and tied the house location back to the available property reference points, providing the spatial data needed for the draftsman to complete the CAD plan.

A relatively small job, but a good example of how GNSS field capture can bridge the gap between what’s physically accessible onsite and what’s needed back in CAD.

Found It Down Under & Frontline Fencing teamed up together on this project!

Before breaking ground the owner wanted to reduce the risk by locating the power cables in the work area.

If you need a quality fence & locator, give us a call.

A recent call-out started with a soggy patch in a client's backyard and a small sinkhole beginning to form.

After carefully exposing the area by hand, we found the cause — a stormwater pipe that had been pierced by a star picket. The pipe definitely came off second best!

During excavation we also uncovered electrical warning tape, so extra care was taken to fully expose the damaged section before any repairs were carried out.

We organised the pipe repair while it was already exposed, allowing the client to get their rainwater system back up and running as quickly as possible.

A good reminder: this pipe was 400 mm deep. While that's a little deeper than some backyard stormwater pipes, it's still well within the reach of a driven star picket.

Before digging, driving star pickets, or breaking the ground surface, know what's below.

Highly recommend this course for anyone working in the Civil or Locating industry.

Queensland civil contractors, utility locators and construction professionals — don’t miss this opportunity.

If you’re eligible for Construction Skills Queensland (CSQ) funding, our Pre-Excavation Management Course (PEMC) is fully funded.

With limited funded places remaining and CSQ funding available until 30 September 2026, registrations for upcoming webinars are being accepted now.

Upcoming scheduled webinar dates:
📅 5 August 2026
📅 18 August 2026
📅 2 September 2026
📅 15 September 2026
📅 29 September 2026

PEMC provides practical knowledge to help reduce the risk of utility strikes by improving pre-excavation planning, understanding underground asset information, and applying industry best practice before breaking ground.

✔ Fully funded for eligible Queensland participants
✔ 3.5-hour scheduled or on-demand webinar
✔ Certificate valid for 3 years

If you’ve been meaning to complete PEMC, now is the time to secure your place before funded positions are fully allocated.

On a recent underground service locating project, we identified a power cable buried at 200 mm, just below a concrete pathway.

Following careful concrete cutting and excavation, the cable was exposed and its shallow depth confirmed.

This is a good reminder that you should never assume underground power cables have been installed at the correct depth. Installation methods and a change in site changes can all result in services being much shallower than expected.

In this case, the cable was a private electrical asset within the property, meaning it would not have appeared on BYDA (Before You Dig Australia) plans.

Have you carried out your duty of care before breaking ground?

Whether you're cutting concrete, trenching, installing a fence, or undertaking civil works, knowing what's below the surface can prevent costly damage.

🔎 Need to locate underground services before you dig? Did you know you it's part of your "Duty of Care".

Found It Down Under is a Certified Locating Organisation.

The most common questions we get asked:

• Can you locate underground power cables?
• Can you locate underground NBN / Telstra / fibre cables?
• Can you locate underground water pipes?
• Can you locate sewer & stormwater lines?
• Can you inspect drains and underground pipes?
• Can you provide a map and/or report?

✅ In most cases — yes.

We specialise in locating underground:

• Power ⚡
• NBN / Telstra / Fibre 📡
• Water 💧
• Sewer 🚽
• Stormwater 🌧️

We also provide:

• Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR)
• Drain & pipe inspections (CCTV)
• Concrete scanning (GPR)
• Digital mapping of underground services

📍 Our digital mapping service means your underground assets can still be referenced long after paint marks have faded.

If you’re planning excavation, trenching, fencing, footings, plumbing, building, or drilling — it pays to know what’s below first.
