What Is BASF's ATBS & Why We Recommend It
When it comes to protecting your Gold Coast home from termites, not all baiting systems are created equal. That's why at Gold Coast Pest Inspector, we recommend BASF's Advance Termite Bait System. Better known as ATBS.
So, what is it?
BASF's ATBS uses Trelona Termite Bait, powered by an active ingredient called Novaluron — and it sets a genuine benchmark for termite baiting in the Australian market. Novaluron works by disrupting chitin synthesis, which prevents termites from completing the moulting process. Because colony members moult at different stages, the effect on the colony is progressive — steadily working through the entire nest rather than just the termites that find the bait first.
Active from day one
Unlike older baiting systems that rely on wood monitors, Trelona ATBS comes pre-baited, meaning when termites find the in-ground stations, they start feeding immediately on the highly palatable bait. That's 24/7 protection from the moment it's installed.
Built to last
Each station holds up to 248g of bait across two cartridges, with no water needed during installation. Field trials show that installed cartridges remain effective and palatable for up to 3 years post-installation.
Why we trust it
BASF has been the leader in termite control in Australia since the launch of Termidor back in 2002. That's over two decades of proven results. ATBS is the natural evolution of that expertise, giving us the tools to tailor the right solution for your property.
