Last month, our Junior Digital Engineer (Spatial), Lani, attended The University of Queensland Industry Night, connecting with students and industry professionals from across the geospatial and environmental sectors.

As part of the event, attendees worked through real-world case studies, with Lani sharing insights into how industry professionals approach spatial workflows before presenting team findings.

Lani also had the opportunity to speak with students interested in GIS careers, discussing pathways into the industry, the importance of gaining practical experience through internships, and what her role involves day-to-day.

With around 40–50 attendees, the evening provided a valuable opportunity to support emerging professionals, share industry knowledge, and build connections within the geospatial community.

Regional towns continue to play an important role in supporting local farming and food security across Queensland.

Bennett + Bennett are proud to have supported the approval of two new grain bunkers at 117–125 Campbell Street, Millmerran within the Toowoomba Region. Since the beginning of our involvement in 2024, we have provided our Town Planning, Development Compliance and Surveying services.

It has been rewarding to see this project progress from concept through to approval, and we are proud to have played a role in delivering regional infrastructure that will support the storage and transportation of produce from farm to table.

Chris Dawson and Matt Strahley had a great two days at the FCON26 – Future of Construction Summit in Brisbane the other week. The energy in the room was undeniable - this is an industry that's moving fast and knows it.

AI and technology dominated the agenda, with a strong consensus that we're past the pilot phase - the focus now is on scaling what works, driving real productivity gains, and building smarter, more connected projects from the ground up. Brisbane 2032 was also a key focus, with several sessions exploring the scale of infrastructure and construction activity required in the lead-up to the Games, as well as the long-term benefits for Brisbane and Queensland. While there was a strong sense of optimism about the opportunities ahead, there was also recognition of the substantial work required to deliver on these ambitions.

Overall, the summit provided valuable insights into the challenges and opportunities shaping the future of the industry.

Sunrise views and cutting-edge technology.

Our team recently carried out laser scanning at Isabel by Mosaic Property Group in Burleigh Heads, making the most of a spectacular sunrise while capturing accurate site data.

From iconic residential developments to complex infrastructure projects, we're proud to be working on projects that shape South East Queensland. If you're looking to be part of a team delivering innovative surveying solutions, we'd love to hear from you.

A proud moment for six of our team, who recently returned to New Zealand to celebrate the completion of their Bachelor of Surveying degree at the University of Otago.

As part of our Graduate Program, these emerging professionals are already making meaningful contributions across projects, building capability, gaining hands-on experience and learning from experienced mentors across the business.

Supporting early career development is something we value deeply at Bennett + Bennett, and it’s fantastic to see our graduates recognised for all the hard work that has brought them to this moment.

Congratulations to Brayden Foote, Michelle Dempsey, Emily Donlevy, Georgie Bruce, Claire Snelling and Tony Mildon, we are proud to be part of your journey.

We are also looking forward to returning to the University of Otago in July to connect with the next cohort of graduates and share more about careers in surveying, spatial and geospatial services.

Stage 1 Plan Sealing for 130 Residential Lots

A great result for the Bennett + Bennett Surveying and Development Compliance teams alongside our client, Bespoke. Our clients project in Rochedale has successfully achieved plan sealing endorsement for Stage 1, delivering 130 Residential lots.

This project came with a few challenges along the way, including a long gap between construction completion and lodgement, plus a change in ownership during the project.
We’re excited to see the project successfully endorsed in April 2026 - a fantastic outcome and a big team effort from everyone involved!

Companies involved:
• Project Management: Bespoke Development Management & Strategy
• Engineering: Stantec

After more than 15 years of involvement, it’s exciting to see the next chapter of the Hamilton Grove community officially underway.

From early planning through to recent reconfiguration works, survey and plan sealing, and now supporting the latest sales campaign with contract plans, our team has been proud to play an ongoing role in bringing this landmark development to life.

A fantastic milestone for everyone involved, and a testament to the long-term vision behind this project. Congratulations to Wentworth Equities on the release of this exciting new stage at Hamilton Grove.

Our team recently enjoyed a fantastic evening connecting with clients, consultants and industry peers at the Wankernomics comedy show at the Powerhouse. The evening had the team all laughing at the quirks of office life and the jargon we know all too well.

It was a great opportunity to step away from the day-to-day, strengthen relationships and share a few laughs with colleagues from SKF Development, Metro - Developments, C2 Architecture and DPM QLD.

We are now looking forward to “leveraging the synergies” and “driving collaborative outcomes” together…

The Bennett + Bennett Planning team recently spent an afternoon at the Gold Coast Clay Target Club with colleagues from Hickey Lawyers, stepping away from project work to strengthen relationships in a more relaxed setting.

Events like this are a valuable part of how we work together, creating space for open conversation, shared experience, and stronger alignment beyond day-to-day delivery.

Congratulations to Joe Welch from Hickey Lawyers on taking out the win, with strong performances throughout the day from Hannah Neumann and Kaitlyn Schneider from Keylin.

A competitive but good-natured afternoon, and an opportunity to continue building trusted relationships across our client and partner network.
