Bennett + Bennett is delighted to have assisted with securing development approval for a Service Industry development involving an Industrial Equipment Hire and ancillary Office at 16 Cottesloe Street, Stapylton.

The development is situated within the Burnside Road North Industrial Estate and will support one of many future businesses in the east Stapylton industry enterprise area.

The approval authorises a warehouse and a hardstand hire yard, supported by an attached two-storey office providing secure working spaces and amenities to administrate ongoing business operations.

The development will support a business providing hire services for industrial machinery to local contractors, builders and the broader construction industry to assist in the development of nearby regions. Lodged and approved within just 2 months, we thank and congratulate the team involved for all of their efforts to achieve this timely and collaborative result.

At the recent UDIA Qld event Gold Coast Mayoral Briefing: Navigating the Next Era of Growth, we heard from Cr Tom Tate about his vision for the Gold Coast as one of Australia’s fastest growing cities, and going beyond being a smart city to build a smart economy.

Cr Tate discussed the role the Gold Coast will play in supporting Brisbane during the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games, including the delivery of transport and other key infrastructure designed to outlast the event and provide long-term solutions for the Gold Coast. He reflected on the success of the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games and the legacy infrastructure that continues to benefit residents today.

Along with Mayor Cr Tom Tate, we heard from key developers, Christie Leet from Sherpa, Kunjan Ganatra from McNab, and Bianca Durak from Boldstone, who shared their perspectives on pinch points in the development and construction industry, including the need for greater clarity, certainty, and consistency around development approvals.

The growth of the Gold Coast isn’t in question. The key challenge is ensuring continued collaboration between the development industry and Council so housing can continue to be delivered.

On Sunday, our Bennett + Bennett team took on Mater’s Brisbane to Gold Coast Cycle for Cancer.

Joining more than 5,000 dedicated riders, our team challenged themselves to the iconic 100km course from South Brisbane to Fisherman’s Lawn, Southport, while helping raise awareness and vital funds for cancer research and improved treatment.

A huge effort from everyone involved and an even bigger cause to get behind. We've noticed a few sore legs around the office today!

We're proud to be supporting the Otago University Surveying Students Association (OUSSA) as a sponsor in 2026.

OUSSA plays an important role in creating a strong student community, providing academic and social support, connecting students with industry, and helping prepare the next generation of surveyors for successful careers.

Supporting organisations like OUSSA is an investment in the future of our profession. We value every opportunity to engage with aspiring surveyors, build meaningful connections, and contribute to the growth of the industry both in Australia and New Zealand.

We're looking forward to seeing everything OUSSA achieves throughout the year.

Another milestone reached at Bellagrove, with our Sunshine Coast Cadastral Team recently completing Stage 4 for the team at Double R Group.

Since commencing work on this 8-stage subdivision in 2021, we’ve had the privilege of supporting Bellagrove through each stage of its delivery, from initial surveys for design through to the creation of new residential and commercial lots.

With its expansive environmental reserves and tree-lined streets, Bellagrove continues to take shape as a connected and considered community on the Sunshine Coast.

We’re proud to continue playing a role in bringing this project to life and look forward to seeing the next stages progress.

Regional growth requires more than simply accommodating more people, it requires thoughtful planning to create communities that are connected, resilient and liveable.

In the latest edition of UDIA Queensland’s Establish magazine, Sunshine Coast Regional Manager Corey James shares his perspective on the challenges and opportunities facing Queensland’s regional centres.

Corey highlights that every region has its own unique strengths, constraints and opportunities.

There is no one-size-fits-all approach with effective regional planning requires collaboration between councils, infrastructure providers, developers and communities to balance housing needs, infrastructure delivery, economic growth and environmental protection.

As Queensland continues to experience significant growth, the next decade will be critical in shaping how our regions evolve, ensuring they remain great places to live while supporting the industries and communities that drive the state forward.

UDIA members can read Corey’s full insights in the Winter edition of the magazine.

Stadium projects demand accuracy from the ground up.

From 2020 to 2023, our team supported the delivery of works at Sunshine Coast Stadium and the wider Kawana Sports Precinct, providing surveying services across a complex, high-profile sporting environment. Our scope included the accurate capture of topography and critical above and below-ground assets, providing essential information to support design and construction.

This project highlights the important role surveying plays in supporting the delivery of major sporting infrastructure, from early planning through to construction.

Modern developments don’t always fit within traditional property boundaries.

Volumetric subdivision has become an essential tool in modern development, particularly as projects grow more complex and land use becomes increasingly layered. Instead of relying on traditional 2D lot boundaries, it establishes precise spatial envelopes that reflect how a site is actually used.

By creating precise 3D parcels with clear height, depth and volume boundaries, developers can achieve greater flexibility, certainty and independence without the need for a community titles scheme. From mixed-use developments to staged delivery and complex infrastructure projects, volumetric titling is becoming an increasingly valuable tool in modern development.

In our latest insight article, Principal Planner Lachlan Maclean explores how volumetric subdivision works and when it may be the right approach for your project.
