Do you have a modern roof with a low pitch?

A Tractile roof can be installed at a minimum pitch of 10° with sarking only, making it a perfect choice for modern homes.

If your pitch is 3° to 10°, Tractile solar and roof tiles are installed with a storm water protection layer such as metal sheeting. Most conventional tiles have a minimum pitch of 15°.

A standard Tractile roof of 200sqm can be installed in 3-5 days. Tractile has been designed for easy installation with a hook on the back of the solar and roof tiles interlocking with Tractile battens. A single Tractile roof tile can take a live load of 250kg, equal to two people and a toolbox. As the tiles are interlocked, they can’t be kicked up to pe*****te the house through the roof.

The water that runs through the back of Tractile’s solar tiles cools the PV and increases solar efficiency during the hottest part of the day. The water is heated, stored and then boosted for use domestically, in-floor or pool heating. This means Tractile converts solar energy into electricity at 20.2% efficiency with an additional 12% from the water cooling, and also generates hot water. Total electrical + thermal efficiency of Tractile solar tiles is 50%+.

When Robert, a retired engineer from Beckenham WA designed his home, he wanted a solar roof that would be aesthetically pleasing and power his home with both electricity and hot water.

"I was particularly interested in Tractile because of the Australian design and high quality," Robert says.

Robert chose a 12kWp system for his 220sqm roof, of which 72sqm comprises Tractile solar tiles, featuring two 6kWp systems with two hybrid inverters feeding two large batteries. Tractile's composite tiles make up the remaining 148sqm.

"This means we are mostly off-grid and have put back into the grid 3000kWh in the last 3 months," Robert says.
