We did it! It's been a looooong night but here's some pics of the aftermath. Apart from a b**g eye from sleeping on a zipper and a headache from the lady near me snoring like Chewbacca on heat all night, all is well :-) I'm grateful I don't have to do this again for a while but it has certainly been an eye opener for me as to how tough our homeless do it every single night. The idea behind the sleepout was to raise awareness and much needed funds for homeless youth on the GC and I hope I have been successful in both. A massive thank you to all my family, friends & facebook friends who supported this cause and helped me raise over $550 in 48 hours...such a great effort from you all and so very generous. Also, a special shout out to my brave neice Beau who stayed the entire night with me....what a trooper! THANKS ALL!

Preparing for tonights Sleepout. A cardboard box for insulation and a sleeping bag for warmth. This is still a lot more than some homeless people have to keep warm on a cold winters night. Think about this while you're rugged up in bed tonight...please :-)

This Saturday night I'll be participating in the Suns Sleep Out at Metricon Stadium in support of the Gold Coast Project for Homeless Youth. Yes that's right, I'll be sleeping on a piece of cardboard with a sleeping bag out in the middle of the field to help raise awareness for Youth Homelessness on the Gold Coast and raise much needed funds for three not-for-profit Youth Homeless related charities - Gold Coast Youth Service, Gold Coast Project for Homeless Youth Inc. and YHES House. Your support via a tax deductible donation through my Everyday Heroes page, big or small would be greatly appreciated, not by me, but by the homeless youth of the Gold Coast...ok, and maybe me too If you can't donate but still want to help, feel free to join me at the event for a night of fun & entertainment with food from the Soup Kitchen whilst raising money for a very worthy cause Share and spread the word!
