Got called to a job at the end of last week! Another company had been there previously and quoted the customer over 2k to replace multiple PCBs in the outdoor unit! The fuse in the image was all that was wrong with the machine! Blown after a cockroach shorted between a PCB and the frame of the outdoor!

Too many air conditioning experts / specialists around these days. Not enough real tradesmen!

Is your smoke alarm chirping at 4 AM lately?

With colder mornings on the Gold Coast, I’m hearing from many locals in Upper Coomera, Coomera, and Helensvale about noisy alarms. There’s a simple reason for it: cold weather causes a dip in battery voltage. If your alarm is aging, that tiny drop is enough to trigger the low-battery beep in the early hours of the morning.

It’s more than just a nuisance. The January 2027 QLD deadline is fast approaching: every home must have interconnected photoelectric smoke alarms. If your alarms are the old ionisation type or don’t talk to each other, you won't be compliant.
