Proud moment for the team at First Line Engineering Pty Ltd we’re honoured to have won the Commercial Projects category for the Eagle Street Repositioning project at the Tekla BIM Awards.

This was a technically demanding live CBD project with complex curved steelwork and tight tolerances, and it’s fantastic to see the team’s precision, coordination, and innovation recognised.

Huge congratulations to everyone involved - from design and detailing through fabrication and installation - an outstanding team effort.

Big Cranes & Road Closures in Brisbane’s CBD!

After months of planning and installation methodology meetings, we in collaboration with Buildcorp Group executed a complex crane lift operation using a 350t mobile crane and a 5-tonne mini crane for the er****on of steel on Level 26. Our team carefully removed the mini crane's boom and outriggers for safe lifting access to the roof, allowing us to efficiently position a 2.6t spider boom for work up to Level 29. All steel was pre-slung from our manufacturing workshop, delivered ready for liftoff.

Over the course of 34 hours, our joint effort with VAE Group and Borger Cranes resulted in a fantastic outcome, ensuring a smooth transition to the roof. This thorough planning and coordination kept disruptions to a minimum.

A big thank you to Buildcorp and everyone involved for their hard work in making this project a success!

Big & Bound ~ Precision in Steel

Massive in scale, precise in ex*****on—our 610CHS and 500WC props and whalers are prepped and ready for the final stage: a protective coat of paint. Each 500WC assembly weighs just under 8 tonnes, and the 610CHS comes in at around 2.5 tonnes.

These aren’t just numbers—they’re the result of quality fabrication, thorough ultrasonic testing on the FSBWs, and the hard work of our skilled team. A big thanks to Mann’s Crane Hire for helping us get these heavyweights loaded safely and efficiently.

Big Steel, Big Spans ~ Cannon Hill Anglican College

Here’s a sneak peek at our ongoing project at Cannon Hill Anglican College, delivered in partnership with Kane Constructions Pty Ltd.

This new sports hall is all about scale and precision—featuring massive 900WB welded beams and a structural steel package tipping the scales at around 200 tonnes. With a 40-metre span and a roof height of approximately 11 metres, it’s shaping up to be an impressive addition to the campus.
