Suspended slabs. Thailand do them 40mm thick in public areas and still have no cracking. Australia 120mm thick and they still crack even with engineering inspectuons to ensure standards are met. How can we be better?

Building practices in Thailand. Workplace health and safety is a bit lacking but check out the render. Mesh the whole wall to prevent transfer of cracks. We don't see this is Australia.

Test day on the new Hanger. Owners are very happy with the results. Time to get the aircraft in and then onto the office portion.

Certification isn't a job where you often get praise as you are advising clients when they don't get parts correct or we need more information, so it is extra nice to receive thanks from clients.

We did an approval on this top level balcony roof. I was amazed that the balustrade was climbable, 7.5m fall and only 900mm high with 200mm gaps. Amazing difference the 100mm makes, it was scary near the edge. Approvals in 1981. On the flip side my house was built in 1975 with a 1m balustrade and a 2.6m fall. Sometimes the rules just don't make sense.

I'ts all about perspective... The role of a certifier is to ensure the work is done correctly. As you can imagine when problems are found this does not always go down well as it is more work to make it right. It is alway nice to recieve a positive message about doing your job correctly🙂.
