๐ŸŒฟ๐ŸŒŠ Our Amazing Mandurah Wetlands, Estuary & Coast ๐ŸŒŠ๐ŸŒฟ

One of the things we love about living and working around Mandurah is the incredible diversity of our natural environment.
From the ocean and coastline, to the Mandurah Estuary, wetlands, rivers and surrounding bushland, our region is home to an amazing variety of plants, trees and wildlife. ๐Ÿฆ๐ŸŒณ๐Ÿฆ†
You may have noticed that the Peel-Harvey Catchment Council (PHCC) is now 5 Rivers NRM.
The new name reflects the five critical rivers that feed our region's ecology โ€” an important reminder of just how connected our waterways, wetlands, bushland and urban environment really are.
And that connection matters to us as arborists.
๐Ÿ’ง Healthy rivers support healthy groundwater.
๐ŸŒฑ Healthy groundwater helps sustain vegetation.
๐ŸŒณ Healthy vegetation supports our magnificent mature trees and urban canopy across Mandurah and Murray.
๐Ÿฆ And healthy trees and waterways provide habitat for the wildlife that makes our region so special.
Itโ€™s all connected.
At Hayes Tree Care, we believe looking after our environment isn't just about planting more trees. It's also about protecting the trees, vegetation and habitats we already have and understanding the wider environment they depend on.
As arborists, we love seeing local frameworks evolve to better protect our shared environment and the natural systems that support it. ๐Ÿ’š
Next time you're walking along the estuary, exploring a wetland or enjoying one of our local bush trails, take a moment to look around.
Our rivers, wetlands, waterways, trees, wildlife and coastline are all connected โ€” and they're all worth looking after. ๐ŸŒฟ

๐ŸŒฟ Australia looks better with a full bush. ๐ŸŒฟ

Love getting out on the weekend to walk, hike and explore our beautiful WA bushland? ๐ŸŒณ๐Ÿฅพ

The bush gives us so much โ€” shady trails, fresh air, wildlife, wildflowers, birds, beautiful places to explore and a connection to the natural environment.

But our bushland is under pressure, and The Fuller Bush Project is giving people a simple way to help bring it back and make sure future generations can enjoy the same beautiful bushland, wildlife and walking trails that we do today. ๐Ÿ’š

At Hayes Tree Care, we believe trees should be preserved and celebrated โ€” and we love supporting initiatives that help protect and restore our natural environment.

Mandurah Wildlife is preparing for bird flu.

Hayes Tree Care donated their time and expertise to lop trees over our water tank and several aviaries. This was an important first step in preparing our property for bird flu. We are extremely grateful to Hayes Tree Care for their generosity and assistance. With this work completed we are now ready to install protective roofing over the aviaries.

As you know, we do not receive government funding to run Mandurah Wildlife and rely on fundraising to cover our costs. (Sign the petition to help us change this: www.change.org/stepupforwildlife )

We recently set ourselves a goal to raise $10 000, to cover the costs of preparing for bird flu. Weโ€™re delighted to report that weโ€™re almost halfway there, with $4817 raised. Thank you to everyone who has donated, we are so grateful.

Our fundraising continues, to raise the remaining $5183. We have roofing, fences and gates to build, signage, equipment and PPE to purchase.

There is still time to donate : giving.mandurahwildlife.com.au

Once again, a huge thank you to Hayes Tree Care. You know who to call if you have trees to lop.

๐Ÿ”ฅ๐ŸŒฟ Firebreaks โ€” Itโ€™s Time to Get Them Sorted

If you live in the Peelโ€“Murray region, now is a great time to start getting your firebreaks and property ready for summer.

With El Niรฑo underway, there is the potential for warmer and drier conditions this summer. While we wonโ€™t know exactly what the season will bring, itโ€™s a good reminder to get prepared early.

And thereโ€™s another good reason to do it now โ€” the weather is cooler! ๐ŸŒค๏ธ

Getting vegetation management, pruning and firebreak work done during the cooler months is generally less demanding on workers, machinery and your property than waiting until the heat of summer arrives.

๐Ÿ”ฅ Reduce fuel loads
๐ŸŒฟ Manage overgrown vegetation
๐Ÿก Help protect your property
๐Ÿš’ Improve access for emergency services
โ˜€๏ธ Avoid doing the hard work in the summer heat

At Hayes Tree Care, we can help with tree pruning, hazardous branches, vegetation management and other tree work to help you prepare your property.

Donโ€™t wait for the heat โ€” get it sorted while itโ€™s cooler. ๐ŸŒฟ

๐Ÿฆ๐Ÿ’š Helping Mandurah Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre Prepare for Bird Flu ๐ŸŒฟ

Team Hayes recently donated their time, skills and expertise to Mandurah Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre, pruning trees over their water tank and several aviaries.

This work was an important first step in helping Mandurah Wildlife prepare for the potential impact of bird flu. With the trees now safely managed, they can move forward with installing protective roofing over the aviaries.

Weโ€™re grateful to be able to contribute in a small way to the incredible work they do caring for injured and orphaned wildlife across our region. ๐Ÿฆœ๐Ÿฆ‰๐Ÿฆ”
But thereโ€™s still plenty to do.
Mandurah Wildlife does not receive government funding and relies on fundraising and community support to continue its work. They have set a goal of raising $10,000 to help prepare their facilities for bird flu โ€” and have already raised an amazing $4,817! ๐ŸŽ‰

That leaves $5,183 to go, with roofing, fencing, gates, signage, equipment and PPE still needed.

If youโ€™d like to help support this important local organisation, you can donate here:

You can also support their campaign by signing the petition to help secure greater support for wildlife:

A huge thank you to the Mandurah Wildlife team for everything they do for our native wildlife โ€” and to everyone who has donated so far.

Weโ€™re proud to play our part in protecting the wildlife that makes our Peel region so special. ๐ŸŒฟ๐Ÿฆ

๐ŸŒฑ What a fantastic day at the Coodanup Foreshore Reserve! ๐ŸŒฑ

Today, the Hayes Tree Care team was proud to be part of the City of Mandurah's Community Tree Planting Day, joining hundreds of locals to help create a greener future for our community.

It was wonderful to see so many families, volunteers, and community groups coming together to plant trees, enjoy the beautiful foreshore, and strengthen the connections that make our community so special.

A huge thank you to the City of Mandurah for organising such a fantastic event, Mandurah Wildlife for sharing their knowledge and passion for our local wildlife, Coastal waste warriors, the Lions Club for keeping everyone well-fed, Grow It Local for inspiring the community to create greener backyards and helping connect local wildlife corridors from our homes to our reserves, and everyone involved in the face painting, activities, and entertainment that made the day so enjoyable for the kids.

Every tree and plant put into the ground today is another step towards creating healthier habitats, strengthening wildlife corridors, increasing our urban canopy, and leaving a lasting legacy for future generations. These community planting days show what can be achieved when people come together with a shared purpose.

Thank you to everyone who attended and helped make the day such a success. It was a fantastic celebration of community connection, environmental stewardship, and working together to make Mandurah an even greener place to live.
