Flavourtech

Flavourtech A global technology manufacturer specialising in aroma recovery, extraction, dealcoholisation & evaporation solutions.

Flavourtech is a world leader in the development, design and manufacture of thin-film, spinning cone technologies for the production of aromas, extracts, concentrates and no- and low-alcohol beverages. Our unique processing technologies, including the renowned Spinning Cone Column, are utilised in the coffee, tea, flavour, fragrance, dairy, alcoholic beverage, nutraceutical and pharmaceutical indu

stries. Our team's expertise allows turn-key solutions to be implemented in the food and beverage industry, leading to higher quality products and streamlined processes that result in lower costs of production and higher market shares being achieved. Applications include:
• Dealcoholisation of wine, beer, cider and spirits
• Natural flavour extraction from tea, coffee, fruit and vegetables. Juices & pulps can be processed to recover natural flavours prior to thermal processing, thus avoiding damage. The natural flavour can be added back to the product at the end of the processing or used in other products.
• Tea & coffee aroma, extract and concentrate production for instant coffee or Ready to Drink (RTD) tea & coffee
• Aroma recovery and management of products such as juice or milk
• Concentration of bioactive ingredients in the nutraceutical or pharmaceutical markets, e.g. removal of solvent following extraction

A brief description of Flavourtech technologies:

• Spinning Cone Column (SCC) – Used for aroma recovery, flavour management and extraction. The SCC efficiently and cost-effectively separates volatile compounds such as natural aroma and flavours from their source. With over 130 installations in the global coffee industry, the SCC is well regarded as the “Gold Standard” for capturing the desired aromas of roasted coffee. The SCC is also critical in capturing the fresh natural aroma from products such as tea, fruit and vegetables in a single, quick, automated and continuous process.

• Centritherm® evaporator – A centrifugal low-temperature evaporator. The product film takes only one second to pass over the heating surface at low temperatures, typically 50 °C. The unit is particularly suited for the concentration of heat-sensitive, valuable or viscous products. The Centritherm evaporator also offers energy savings in downstream processes while also providing better encapsulation of valuable flavour components. The Centritherm evaporator is used by many food and beverage companies that wish to concentrate their products to improve logistics for shipping, as minimal to no product damage occurs. The Centritherm evaporator is also used by many pharmaceutical companies for solvent removal following the extraction process, knowing that there is no damage to the product due to the short exposure to heat.

• Integrated Extraction System (IES) – A modular system that incorporates both the SCC and Centritherm evaporator technologies to produce an automated and continuous solution for the production of high-quality aroma and concentrates for the tea and coffee market. By processing a slurry of the product, much higher quantities of the desired aroma compounds are captured, allowing customers to differentiate their products. The IES provides opportunities for higher profits and market share due to its use of automation, compactness, flexibility and creation of a range of products to meet market requirements. Most of the RTD iced tea drinks in the US are manufactured on this technology as are most of the RTD canned coffee products in Japan. Flavourtech's customers include multinationals that have standardised their process at different locations using our technologies to domestic companies that are market leaders in their region. In all cases, Flavourtech's technologies allow them to differentiate their product from the competition while also providing the flexibility to easily manufacture different flavour profiles for different markets or market segments. With the increased cost of living, Flavourtech are seeing consumers choose the convenience and "real" taste of liquid coffee concentrates for use both at home and in the office. We can help coffee manufacturers jump on this trend with our Spinning Cone technology, which, with the release of our small-scale SCC100, is suited to both small and large throughputs.

Flavourtech spent Wednesday at SUMMA 2026 in Pecs, Hungary. The conference was held at Pécsi Egyetemi Borbirtok, an absolutely stunning location which helped fuel the excitement around the future of no- and low-alcohol wine in Hungary.

The conference agenda covered technology innovations, health science and consumer decision making with regards to no- and low-alcohol wines. Flavourtech's Leon Skaliotis made a presentation on how our Spinning Cone Column technology was used to assist the university to produce a range of NoLo wines which were then presented at a guided tasting session.

Flavourtech would like to thank the team from the Research Institute for Viticulture and Oenology at University of Pécs for organising such an engaging event. We are looking forward to continuing to work in partnership with them on their NoLo wine project.

Congratulations to all participants at the recent Dean Carter cycle race. It was a wet weather race, but this did not hinder the rider's ability to hit some speed!

Flavourtech was proud to sponsor Griffith Cycle Club in holding the 46th edition of this event, as without volunteers and sponsorship from local businesses, these events would not happen. This memorial race is special to both the club and its community and is one of the most established and prestigious handicapped road races in the Riverina.

"When processed as a slurry of milled roasted coffee beans and water (rather than a traditional liquid extract), the result is both a higher-quality extract AND aroma fraction."

The below article from the March/April issue of Global Coffee Report covers the advantages of Flavourtech's slurry processing technologies. Check it out when you have a spare moment!

As consumers increase their palate for single-origin profiles and natural ingredients across instant and ready-to-drink coffee, Flavourtech’s slurry processing solutions – such as the Spinning Cone Column – are preserving the sensory aspects of the bean.

And it’s finished!

Factory Acceptance Testing of our latest triple-column SCC project has been completed. This project involved a lot of staff, so we just had to take a photo of the team posing with the system before it leaves Griffith. Well done to everyone involved – the unit looks amazing and we can’t wait to see it commissioned in its new home!

Flavourtech’s Centritherm® evaporator is the ideal technology for producing high-quality concentrates of products that are heat-sensitive, viscous or of particularly high value. With a residence time on the heating surface of only 1 second, and using evaporation temperatures as low as 35°C, the technology has been shown to have minimal to no effect on flavour, colour and active constituents.

Our smallest model, the CT-1, has an evaporation capacity of 50kg/hr*, making it perfect for universities, R&D departments or small production runs. It's compact, has minimal infrastructure requirements and is available to trial on-site or at a Flavourtech pilot plant. The unit below is located at our Netherlands pilot plant, where our European team would be happy to show you its benefits!
