It’s been 7 long days since the fires tore through our beautiful town and our property.
Seven days of fear, waiting, and heartbreak.

This morning we finally met the absolute legends who saved our home — the crew identifying hot spots from the thermal camera in the helicopter. Standing there listening to them explain what they did, how close it was, and the risks they took… I was completely overwhelmed with emotion. Tears, gratitude, disbelief — all of it.

These people risk their lives to protect homes they don’t even know. Our home. Our memories. Our future.

They’ve been on the ground since the very beginning. Long days. Little rest. Still turning up, every single day.

The CFA is made up of volunteers. Many of these legends are self-employed. They don’t get paid. No bonuses. No tax breaks. Yet they keep showing up when it matters most.

I have never been so grateful in my life.
Thank you doesn’t feel like enough — but thank you, from the bottom of our hearts. Forever grateful ❤️

Endless gratitude to the CFA — all volunteers, all heroes. Your courage and selflessness saved homes, animals, and livelihoods. To the two trucks that stood their ground as the fire front approached and protected our home — because of you, our house is still standing. Forever grateful.

Thank you Juanitta Kelly for opening your home without hesitation, caring for us and managing thr girls while we went back in and the animals, and holding us together when we had nothing left to give. And to Jarrod Kelly — after 12 hours fighting fires and barely any sleep, you still showed up. A true hero. We owe you a few Great Northern slabs.

To our friends, family, and local community — every message, meal, generator, water drop, and act of kindness has meant more than we can say. This is what a village looks like.

Our hearts break for our neighbours who have lost so much. This isn’t over, but we will stand together and rebuild — together. Grateful beyond words 🤍

If you’re asking how to help now: cooked meals, snacks, and water are deeply appreciated for those without power or water in the Harcourt area. Happy to deliver to those needed it.
