FABRIC OF THE WEEK - Etamine — OUTREMER

I'm teasing you as we start winter but close your eyes and picture the French Riviera in the 1950s. The sculptural curves of sun-bleached furniture. The shimmer of light on water. The gentle rhythm of a summer afternoon - I, I know.

That is exactly where OUTREMER begins, woven in Italy, this exquisite fabric features a gently undulating motif inspired by the sculptural furniture curves captured by legendary French photographer Jacques-Henri Lartigue along the Côte d’Azur.

Beneath that soft, natural hand lies exceptional performance — outstanding lightfastness and remarkable resistance to chlorine, saltwater and the elements. It moves as effortlessly from a refined interior to an outdoor terrace as the most stylish of guests.

This is the fabric for the client who refuses to compromise. Who wants their outdoor space to feel as considered and luxurious as every room inside.

3 things your living room may be missing - If your living room never quite feels finished, it might be one of these.

1. The right rug — it should be large enough to anchor all your furniture, not float in the middle of the room.

2. Layered lighting — turn off the overhead light and switch on your lamps. Layer ambient, task and accent lighting for a room that actually feels warm.

3. A focal point — give the eye somewhere to land. A piece of art, a fireplace, a beautifully styled shelf. Without one, a room feels directionless.

Floor plans spread across the table, paint chips, fabric swatches, stone samples, timber finishes — and two people figuring out exactly how a home should feel.

This is one of our favourite parts of the design process. The early conversations. The material selections. The moment a client holds a sample and says ‘yes, that’s it.’

Every selection we make is considered against the architecture, the light, the lifestyle and the brief. Nothing lands on a floor plan by accident.

The 3 rug rules every room needs.

A rug can make or break a space — get these three things right and the whole room comes together.

1. Size up — always. When in doubt, go bigger. A rug that's too small is the most common mistake we see.

2. Front legs on — at least the front legs of every piece of furniture should sit on the rug. This is what visually connects your furniture into a cohesive seating group.

3. Even border — leave equal breathing room between the rug and the walls on all sides. It makes the whole room feel considered and intentional.

In a world of white walls and quiet minimalism, some designers dare to go further — and we are here for it.

Maximalism at its finest isn't chaos. It's confidence. It's knowing exactly how to layer a Moroccan tile with a floral wallpaper, a striped cushion with a geometric rug, and somehow — making it all feel completely intentional.

Pattern on pattern. Texture on texture. Colour on colour.
