Outdoor living, whatever the Tassie weather decides to do 👀

The PERGOLUX AUSTRALIA pergola forms the centrepiece of the entertaining area in this Tranmere garden, creating a covered space that connects directly with the lawn and surrounding landscaping.

The clean lines of the pergola contrast with the softer curves, natural stone, Corten steel and native planting throughout the garden, giving the space a balance between modern and organic.

A backyard designed to actually be used.

Dolerite boulders became one of the defining materials throughout this project. A substantial boulder retaining wall was constructed to manage changes in level, while solid Dolerite steppers were used to create natural pathways and steps through the garden.

Custom Corten steel side gates provide secure access to the backyard while introducing another raw, durable material into the landscape. Their warm, weathered finish works naturally alongside the stone and gravel palette.

This South Hobart project, completed in 2024, is well and truly thriving.

The brief was to create a bird and bee attracting garden that complements the wild bushland beneath Kunanyi.

Wild, natural and a little unkept, while still feeling intentional. Bird and bee-attracting natives help the garden sit naturally within the surrounding bush environment and bring plenty of life into the space. River pebble and paving keep things keeo it practical , helping reduce flammability, cut down on dirt being dragged inside and create a cleaner separation between the house and garden.

The steel fence and automatic timber gate keep wildlife out and blend into the space rather than separating.

One of our favourite details from this project.🧡
Substantial basalt steppers climb through the front garden towards the entry, creating a strong arrival while still feeling completely at home amongst the native planting.

We wanted the front garden to feel organic rather than overly glitzy, so the scale and texture of the basalt was paired with soft planting, natural curves and Tassie Gold gravel.

Sweating off the day 💦

Tucked into the landscaping of this Tranmere garden is a sauna by Tassie based Schweiss Saunas , paired with an outdoor shower and surrounded by native planting and natural Basalt stone.

Rather than treating the sauna as an add-on, we designed the surrounding landscape so it feels like it has always belonged here. A private little spot to switch off, recover and enjoy the garden and that spectacular view of Kunanyi, how good!
