This one was for a property owner renting between tenants. She needed the deck looking sharp before the next lease — and that’s exactly what we delivered.

Boat decks use hard film-forming coatings like two-part polyurethanes and marine teak sealers. They’re built for one job: keep water out at all costs.

But your home’s timber deck? It needs something completely different.

Here’s why marine products fail on residential decks:

🌡️ Your deck moves. Heat, rain, and humidity cause timber to expand and contract daily. Hard marine coatings crack and peel — they can’t flex with it.

🌿 Different timber, different needs. Boat decks are almost always teak — dense, oily, and stable. Your deck is likely spotted gum, merbau, or pine. Completely different absorption rates.

☀️ UV is the real enemy at home. UV degradation is the #1 killer of residential decks in QLD. Marine products aren’t built for years of direct sun exposure on a static structure.

Jane hired someone to refresh her deck before listing her house for sale. They painted it red — wrong colour entirely, patchy coverage, no proper prep. The deck looked worse than it did before the job started.

We came in and stripped everything back to bare timber using our German brush sanding system — no chemical stripping, just clean mechanical prep done properly. Got the wood clean, pH balanced, then applied two coats of Intergrain UltraDeck Oil in Natural.
