Backing Nhulunbuys future.🏗️
Dargaville Village Demountable Installation, Nhulunbuy.
What a transformation. From cleared empty lots in January 2026 to 14 completed homes handed over in July 2026.
SHBuild partnered with Rirratjingu Aboriginal Corporation Project Management to deliver this crucial housing project: 14 dwellings across 7 lots — 7 x 3-bedroom and 7 x 2-bedroom demountables. The scope spanned logistics, earthworks, carpentry, fabrication, plumbing, electrical, concreting and cleaning from site prep and concrete blocks through to installing the demountables, carport footings and er****on.
And we handed it back to RPM in under 5 months even through the disruption of Cyclone Narelle. 💪
A big thank you. This one doesn't happen without the right people. Thank you to Rirratjingu Project Management for trusting us with the build.
To the other local trades East Arnhem Plumbing Services and Arnhem Electrical and Refrigeration, BAB WELDING, Kantis Cleaning and Gumatj Civil on site who worked in seamlessly alongside our crew, and to our own team who brought leadership and quality workmanship every single day. Special mention to our Site Supervisor Nathan Bulner whose building experience and problem solving carried this project through.

This project employed 28 local workers, including 6 Indigenous employees and 4 apprentices building hands-on trade skills plus 1 Datjala worker through the Sentenced to a Job program, providing paid employment and practical transferable skills. More homes, more local jobs and skills that stay right here in the community.

What an incredible achievement at Wurrumiyanga 🎉

SHBuild proudly celebrated the official opening of the Pumulayu Child and Family Centre, a $14.1 million facility we've poured 15 months of hard work into including demolition and new build, alongside 35 local workers and 19 local subcontractors from within the Northern Territory.

The Pumulayu Child and Family Centre a purpose built community hub in Wurrumiyanga featuring two community buildings, four accommodation buildings, an outdoor cultural and play spaces, with water play and dance circles.
The whole community turned out in force to mark the occasion, filling the grounds with laughter, kids running through the new play spaces and the smell of 20kg of sausages sizzling away. Senator the Hon Malarndirri McCarthy, Minister for Indigenous Australians, officially opened the centre and 50 lucky locals walked away with brand new SHBuild hats.

Director Scott Hammet said it best: this is one of SHBuild's proudest achievements yet, a true gift to Wurrumiyanga and the wider Tiwi community. To our incredible team, the tradesmen, the local workers and every single person who helped bring the Pumulayu Child and Family Centre to life, thank you. Can't put a price on a day like today.

Happy Birthday Sister Anne (95 years old), from all of us at SHBuild!🎉

The SHBuild team has happily volunteered plenty of time to lend Sister Anne a hand, and every moment has been a privilege.
We've formed strong bonds while working in Wurrumiyanga, and Sister Anne Gardiner is a big part of that. She's called this community home since arriving on Bathurst Island in 1952 with the Catholic mission, aged just 22 more than seven decades of service to the Tiwi people.

So when she asked for our help to relocate a statue rescued from the building site after the old clinic was demolished, we didn't think twice. A special ceremony was held to celebrate the statue's new home, and it was a real honour to be part of.
"I love those men, they looked after me," she said. "They were very kind and it was lovely to see the reverence of those builders."

We're proud to partner with the communities we have the privilege to work in and prouder still to call Sister Anne a friend.

Meet Len - A key part of our SH BUILD team building the Pumulayu Child & Family Centre on Bathurst Island, NT.
When we demolished the old health clinic to make way for the new Community Centre, we salvaged some of the bricks. Len is cleaning these bricks in preparation to build a BBQ for the community of Wurrumiyanga.
It’s a small build with a bigger meaning- preserving history. Well done Len, first cook up is yours!
