Protect your children from electric shocks and burns with these simple fixes around the home:

• Install and regularly test safety switches.
• Replace damaged outlets, switches or frayed leads.
• Install dummy plugs on all power points and power boards.
• Avoid overloading outlets.
• Keep electrical items away from baths and sinks.
• Keep cords and leads out of children’s reach.
• Teach older children how to plug and unplug safely.
• Choose electrical items with the Regulatory Compliance Mark (RCM).
• Always use a licensed electrician.

Students, workers and visitors to facilities such as schools, places of work, businesses and places of interest may start to use electric bikes, scooters, skateboards and similar transport devices. Storing a large number of these devices together increases the potential safety risk that needs to be considered.

Tips include keep the following in mind:
🏡 Choose a cool, dry and sheltered location with adequate ventilation.
🏠 Avoid placing storage areas near other buildings to prevent the spread of fire in case of an incident.

Upgrade your smoke alarms today
From 1 January 2022, landlords must install interconnected smoke alarms in residential rental properties.

When one goes off, they all go off, giving everyone extra time to escape.

All other dwellings must transition to full compliance by 2027.

Don’t leave it to the last minute. You could save a life.
