These changes focus on restricting the use of Second-Generation Anticoagulant Rodenticides (SGARs) to help reduce the risk of secondary poisoning to wildlife and non-target animals.

📊 A recent Pest Pulse Survey of professional pest managers highlighted several key impacts:

✅ Many pest managers have significantly reduced their use of SGAR baits.
✅ Alternative rodenticides such as coumatetralyl, cholecalciferol, and bromethalin are becoming more common.
✅ The use of lockable bait stations is increasing to meet the new requirements.
✅ There is ongoing confusion around the requirement to reassess treatments every 35 days.
✅ Additional site visits, increased treatment costs, and concerns about the effectiveness of alternative products are creating challenges across the industry.
✅ Some pest managers have reported increased rodent activity and callbacks after transitioning away from SGAR products.

One of the key requirements now states that SGAR products must not be used continuously for more than 35 days without evaluating the infestation and treatment effectiveness.
