🚗💰 DRIVE YOUR KIDS TO SCHOOL? You might be missing out on $$ every year.
The NSW School Drive Subsidy helps families cover the cost of the school run when no practical transport is available. And it adds up fast.
🧮 Example:
Drive 15km each way, 180 school days a year?
You could claim $1,998 per year — paid straight to your bank account.
✅ Who’s eligible?
Live in NSW
Have a child in Kindy to Year 12, or studying full-time at TAFE
No viable school bus or transport available
You live:
1.6km+ (K–6) or 2km+ (Year 7–12) from school (straight-line)
OR 2.3km+ / 2.9km+ (walking distance)
💵 How much is it?
$0.74 per km (car)
Based on how far and how often you drive
Paid twice a year
📝 How to apply:
Apply online:

You can also manage everything from the Parent Portal:

💡 Even if you only drive part of the way (e.g. to a pick-up point), it still counts. And if your partner drops off from a different address, you both might be eligible to claim separately.
A handy one for families who rack up the kms without even thinking about it.
