🌧️ Winter is here! Do you know how to protect your pool from storm weather?
5–10 minutes before a storm hits saves you a full recovery later.
Before it hits:
-Empty skimmer & pump baskets (gives you max flow when debris starts moving)
-Drop your water level slightly if heavy rain is forecast
-Remove or secure EVERYTHING around the pool (furniture, pots, toys — it will end up in the water)
-If you’ve got a blanket — remove it or lock it down properly (they get destroyed in wind)
-Check your pump lid is tight and equipment area is clear
Big one most people miss:
👉 Turn your system OFF during peak wind and lightning — protects your equipment from surge and running dry if baskets clog.
After the storm:
-Clear baskets immediately
-Get the big debris out first (don’t rely on your pump to do the heavy lifting)
-Test and rebalance — your chlorine and salt will be diluted
-Run your system longer than normal to recover
Storm weather = dirt + organics + diluted chemicals
That’s the perfect recipe for a green pool within 24–48 hours.
Stay ahead of it — it’s cheaper and easier than fixing it after.
