Does it feel like your electricity bill keeps climbing higher and higher? You’re not alone!
With the increase of lighting and appliances in the average Australian home, our houses are becoming more and more power hungry. Thankfully there are many small changes you can make to save on your energy bill. Every day you can take simple steps like switching off all appliances at the wall, including those on standby, setting timers on appliances like air conditioners and reducing the time limit on your motion sensors. One way to decrease energy consumption dramatically is by replacing your halogen lights with LED lights.
LED's save us money and reduce carbon emissions thanks to their low appetite for electricity, but just how big are these savings? When compared to incandescent lighting (i.e. the traditional filament light bulbs you find in the home) the energy saving LED light will consume only a quarter of the energy of the traditional bulb, and in many cases far less than this.
Couple this with the startling longevity of an LED downlight (it’s estimated that a well-maintained diode could last up to 25 times as long as an incandescent bulb) and you have yourself a highly efficient, incredibly long-lasting light source.
LED lights are proving to be a sustainable approach to combat the increasing demand for energy in the home and office. If you’d like any more info or have some of your own helpful energy saving tips, please leave a comment below!
