In 2019 we were contracted to build dams for Argyle Cattle Company on Moola Bulla Station, East Kimberley. We built a large ring dam in Corin's Paddock, named after longtime head stockman on Moola Bulla, Corin Linch. Corin is also a famous bush poet. Appropriately the dam was named Poets Dam, in Corins Paddock. Corin sent me this poem today which we are stoked to share with you. Its always great to share history and stories of the people who made the north west.

The Dam
Somewhere on Moola Bulla in a paddock Dick named after me,
They have recently built a ring dam, a dam I’d like to see.
I’ve seen photos of it empty and I’ve seen photos of it full,
It holds 30,000 cubic metres and I tell you that’s no bull.
Now that’s a lot of water, in gallons the mathematicians can figure out,
All I know it will water a lot of thirsty bullocks, of that I have no doubt.
And it is obvious to me that much liquid would need a decent hole,
So a D9 dozer and Hawkzone Contracting played a vital role.
A 115 metres across and 16 metres deep now all it needs is a name,
For the title of Poets Dam, Sonya tells me she’s the one to blame.
I’d like to sit upon that dam bank and maybe write a bit of rhyme,
Or perhaps memories of the past might cost an hour or two of time.
Perhaps recall old stockcamp mates and wonder what they are doing now,
Do they still think about the days when we chased the Short Horn cow?
And sometime in the future someone may wonder who is this Corin bloke?, Just a head stockman, cm bush poet, but not one you want to provoke
Now I spent some time at Moola Bulla and I guess I played my part,
Of the history of that special station that I hold fondly in my heart.
But to have a bit that bears my name, I admit that makes me proud,
After all I only did my job, just a member of the wage earner crowd.
