Our crew recently completed recycle top dressing across all couch fairways, tackling years of accumulated organic matter and thatch while bringing existing soil to the surface and redistributing it through the turf canopy. 🚜🌱

The benefits of this work include:

✅ Thatch management — breaks up and dilutes accumulated organic matter, helping reduce sponginess.

✅ Compaction relief — opens up tight soil, improving movement of air and water through the root zone.

✅ Tree root pruning — cuts encroaching tree roots within the working depth, helping reduce competition with the fairway turf for water and nutrients.

✅ Improved water infiltration — helps rainfall and irrigation pe*****te the soil.

✅ Better soil aeration — allows oxygen into the root zone and supports microbial activity involved in breaking down organic matter.

✅ Healthier turf roots — improves growing conditions beneath the surface, supporting stronger turf and recovery from wear.

✅ Firmer, more consistent fairways — helps improve playing conditions as the turf recovers and the redistributed soil settles into the canopy.

✅ Reuses existing soil — reduces reliance on imported top dressing material and associated transport.

Giving old, tight fairways room to breathe! 🌱🚜

Years of machinery and golfer traffic can compact the soil beneath a fairway. That restricts root growth and makes it harder for water and air to move through the profile—even when the surface still looks good.

Recycle top dressing works below the surface, loosening the soil and bringing existing material up through the turf to be spread back across the fairway.

The benefits go deeper than appearance:

✅ Relieving compaction gives roots more space to develop and helps improve the movement of air and water through the soil.

✅ Improving water infiltration helps irrigation and rainfall pe*****te the profile, reducing the tendency for water to sit on the surface or run off.

✅ Supporting stronger roots helps turf access moisture and nutrients, building resilience to wear and dry conditions.

✅ Helping manage thatch by mixing soil into the organic layer, supporting its breakdown as part of an ongoing maintenance program.

Are you an experienced machinery operator or leading hand ready to take the next step?

BGL Solutions is looking for a capable, reliable person to lead a small crew and deliver turf renovation projects across regional Western Australia.

You’ll work with modern tractors, GPS/RTK guidance and specialist turf equipment on sporting grounds, golf courses, schools and local government facilities.

THE ROLE

• Lead, train and support a small field crew
• Organise daily site work and prepare equipment for mobilisation
• Operate tractors and specialist turf renovation machinery
• Carry out aeration, recycle top dressing, sand insertion, verticutting, overseeding and fertiliser applications
• Take responsibility for safety, workmanship, productivity and job reporting
• Communicate professionally with clients and look after BGL equipment

WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR

You’ll bring solid machinery experience, initiative and the ability to lead by example. You should be organised, willing to develop others and comfortable taking ownership of a project.

Turf experience is highly regarded, but we also welcome applicants from agriculture, agricultural contracting, civil construction, earthmoving, landscaping and other machinery-based industries.

A current Australian driver’s licence is required. Tractor, PTO equipment and GPS/RTK experience are valuable. An HR or higher licence, chemical accreditation and mechanical knowledge will also be highly regarded.

Training on BGL’s specialist equipment and systems can be provided to the right person.

WORKING AWAY

Regular regional travel and overnight stays are a core part of this role. You must be comfortable leading crews away from Katanning, working on multi-day projects and managing early starts and longer days when required.

🎾 Tennis season is back in Dumbleyung!

The Dumbleyung grass tennis courts are looking fantastic and ready for another season. 🌱🎾

A lot of work goes into presenting natural turf courts at this standard, and it’s great to see the strong turf coverage and quality of the playing surface heading into the season.

A special mention to the local volunteers who have freshly marked the courts — a great finishing touch and another example of the community effort that goes into getting these facilities ready for everyone to enjoy. 👏

🌿 Proud to be part of the Bloom Festival in Woodanilling 🚜

It was great to have BGL Solutions on display at the Bloom Festival, showcasing some of the specialised machinery and equipment that forms part of what we do every day.

But for us, this display represents much more than machinery.

BGL was built in regional WA, and community remains a big part of who we are. We’re proud to work alongside local governments, sporting clubs, schools, organisations and businesses — helping maintain and improve the grounds and facilities that bring communities together.

While our work now takes us across Western Australia and to clients in other parts of Australia, we haven’t forgotten where we started or the communities that have supported our growth.

Events like the Bloom Festival give us the opportunity to put the machines aside for a moment, catch up with familiar faces, meet new people and be part of the community.

The BGL Solutions renovation fleet is back on the road, with our crews and specialist turf equipment mobilising across WA for another busy season.
