Public announcement to security installers, can you please stop installing ES200’s to every door on access control. We had to fit the correct electronic strikes to 4 gates at a public school because kids figured out a way to retract the latch on the deadlock. Imagine spending all this money on access control, to then have the system bypassed by 6 year olds.

This week the team took on a fun side project! 🔐

Bianca found this Yale & Towne padlock at a local antique shop. It was packed with mud wasp nests and had no keys.

After giving it a thorough clean, Aiden challenged himself to learn how to pick the lock. Once it was open, Jack impressioned the lock and hand-filed a brand-new working key from scratch.

This Yale & Towne padlock was manufactured sometime between 1879 and 1920, making it well over 100 years old. It's always rewarding to preserve a little piece of history while putting traditional locksmithing skills to good use 🔐
