Through his placement, Campbell is developing valuable hands-on skills, gaining industry experience and building confidence in the workplace. He has also recently completed his first TAFE block and enjoyed the opportunity to further his learning.

Balancing school, training, and onsite work experience is a great achievement, and Seth is showing a strong commitment to building his future career pathway. It’s great to see students gaining confidence and valuable industry knowledge through hands-on learning opportunities.

Bec’s Unqualified Job Observations: Plumbers

Plumbers are honestly the closest thing Australia has to battlefield medics. These poor bastards spend their entire lives dealing with things the rest of us pretend don’t exist once we flush and walk away like it’s witness protection for our own s**t.

And every plumbing job starts the exact same way.
“Mate it’s probably just blocked a little bit.”

No. No it’s not “a little bit.”
Your pipes are fighting for their lives underneath the house like the Titanic just hit an iceberg made of baby wipes, tree roots and 14 years of cooking oil from your “healthy air fryer era.”

Then you’ve got the classic Aussie bloke standing next to the plumber pretending he understands what’s happening. Arms crossed. Squinting into the pipe.
“Yeah nah reckon that’s ya pressure valve.”

And can we discuss the confidence plumbers have? Unreal. These legends will rock up to your house at 6:43am, crack one knee on the ground, stare into a pipe full of Satan’s smoothie and go
“Yeahhhh there’s ya problem.”

Also the equipment they use looks completely psychotic. Why does every plumbing tool either look like it belongs in a prison escape or a medieval surgery room? Massive pipe wrenches. Metal snakes. Jet blasters. Half the time it looks less like fixing a sink and more like they’re preparing to interrogate it.

The plumber’s crawling under some steaming hot weatherboard house fighting spiders and 400-degree dust while the owner stands above them going
“While you’re here can ya just quickly look at the dishwasher too?”
Yeah no worries Marg, let him just finish wrestling the sewer dragon underneath your bathroom first.

And somehow plumbers always leave like heroes too. They’ll emerge from under the house covered in dirt, trauma and things nobody should legally touch and then hit you with
“Should be right now.”

Mate you just performed open-heart surgery on a blocked pipe system. You deserve a state funeral and a VB sponsorship deal.

Campbell Getting Ready for Plumbing Career Path 🔧🚰
Campbell has been spending some time over the school holidays continuing work with Matt Wilkinson Plumbing in Kerang, gaining valuable hands-on experience in the trade.
He is doing well balancing school and work, staying up to date with his studies, and building a solid understanding of workplace safety and expectations. Campbell is also preparing to commence his block TAFE training later this month, which will be an exciting next step in his learning.
Great to see you getting in and giving it a go Campbell—well done! 👏

We’re proud to congratulate Seth and Campbell, who have both signed up to complete their Certificate III in Plumbing with Matt Wilkinson Plumbing as they start thier SBAT journey👏

A big shout-out to Jacqui from Matt Wilkinson Plumbing, who signed not one but two apprentices, with the support of Mahir from MEGT. A fantastic team effort and a great example of industry and school working together to support our students.

Well done, boys — we can’t wait to see where this journey takes you!
