WorkSafe Queensland has introduced stricter testing and tagging requirements for construction and demolition sites.
The definition of construction work under the 2013 Electrical Safety Regulation has been updated. Consequently, the AS/NZS 3012 standard now applies to all electrical equipment in temporary buildings on construction sites.
This change means that on-site buildings such as offices, lunch rooms, amenities, and toilets must now be tested to the same standard as construction or demolition sites, rather than just office environments. Testing will need to be conducted more frequently, and domestic-rated power boards can no longer be used in these areas. For the full statement, please refer to the WorkSafe Queensland website.
Regulations vary across Australian states, so for more specific information regarding Queensland, please visit the WorkSafe Queensland website.
