Did a tree at a client's house today without even going into the property. Hahaha.

One of the issues with living in the rain forest is dealing with Mould.

Another issue, especially in Kuranda and Speewah, is living on slopes. Often, houses have high set roofs, guttering, fascias and windows which are unreachable. Even with the tallest ladder.

We are now offering cleaning/pressure washing services for those places you just can't reach.

Using our Spider Lift, we can reach up to 27metres high. So there's not alot of places we can't get to. We've also got 14 metres of outreach, so we don't need to be right next to the area we're working on.

On this occasion, a relatively new house was having mould build up on the guttering and fascias. This can cause alot of problems in the future, so it had to go.

We sprayed a non-chlorine based chemical on the mould to kill it and then pressure washed it off.

The results speak for themselves.

What a mission this one has been — but we finally got there!
Between weather delays, waiting on other trades and the usual hurdles that come with rainforest blocks, it’s taken a little longer than planned… but we can finally share some pics and the story behind it.

When we first arrived, the property was basically a dense rainforest acreage. Thick, spiky “wait-a-while” everywhere, large trees tangled in vines, and barely a hint of where a driveway might go. We knew it was going to be a challenging job from day one.

We started by marking out the driveway alignment leading up to the future house pad. Once locked in, it was time to clear. Our arborist and machine operators absolutely worked their butts off, removing trees and digging out stubborn stumps to make way.

Next was drainage — a huge priority on sloping blocks.
We cut a spoon drain along the high side to divert surface water away from the work area, then installed culvert pipes under the driveway to safely discharge water into the natural creek. The spoon drain was lined with Gabion rock to slow water flow and combat erosion.

We also excavated a 600mm trench up the length of the driveway so the sparkies could run power and the main water line to the house pad. With tree roots everywhere, this part definitely had us working for it.

Once the trench was backfilled and the edges battered off, we brought in truckload after truckload of

Yes it's not Cairns, but just a reminder that it is cyclone season. This category 3 cyclone is hitting Darwin tonight.
For reference, Jasper was a category 1. And we saw the damage that did. That hit mid December too, so it's definitely that time...
Get your house cyclone prepared now. Meaning trees lopped or removed, drainage ditches cleared, Erosion control put in place etc etc.

🚧 Driveway Upgrade Complete! 🚧

This client had a seriously rutted, bumpy driveway—potholes everywhere and not doing their car any favours. Time for a fresh start!

First up, we removed a large dead tree beside the driveway. Once that was out of the way, we scraped back all the grass, debris and built-up muck so the new surface would go down properly.

To protect the driveway long-term, we installed a spoon drain along the high side. This stops water from running across the driveway and causing damage. As we like to say: “The only water we want on the driveway comes from the sky itself.”
We filled the drain with Gabion Rock to slow the flow and prevent erosion.

Then came the fun part—laying the new surface. We used

If your driveway is already washed out, rutted, and basically resembles a 4x4 track it's probably not going to last through the wet season, leaving you to park at the bottom and walk to the house in the rain 🥺

Mid December 2023, Cyclone Jasper tore through Cairns. And while the wind wasn't that strong, the rain that it brought caused massive damage all over the area.
Trees were totally uprooting and coming down everywhere. Including on houses, cars, and other belongings.
Don't get caught out, like many others did.
NOW is the time to get prepared. Because once the rain starts, jobs get postponed and then it gets hard to get your job done.

Minimum 5 years’ experience operating excavators

Confident in final trim, detailed and intricate work

Strong attention to detail and pride in your workmanship

Ability to work safely and efficiently in a fast-paced environment

Experience assisting tree loppers or similar works is highly regarded
