With so much of Newcastle/ Lake Macquarie surrounded by bush and new housing estates, there are often roos and wallabies crossing our roads. Please slow down and respect that we share this world with them 🦘💚

WILDLIFE SAFE DRIVING

This long weekend (and full moon phase), if you are planning a road trip, please take care of yourself and our wildlife. Here are some tips for safer wildlife-friendly travels:

🌞 Avoid driving at dusk, dawn or through the night. If you must, slow down!

👁️ Scan the road ahead, left and right, for wildlife approaching.

🦘Many of our native animals move in groups, if you see one cross the road, expect more!

🫂 Ask your travel companions to help you spot wildlife moving towards the road ahead

⚠️ If you do accidentally hit an animal, please stop and check the animal when it's safe to do so, and call a wildlife rescue hotline immediately.
