PROJECT CREMORNE
Project Overview:
This remediation project involved addressing significant waterproofing failures across six units in Cremorne. Key issues included:
• Leaking top-level balconies due to waterproofing failures.
• Ineffective damp course flashings in the brickwork.
• Aging timber doors contributing to water ingress.
Scope of Work:
1. Preserving Original Aesthetics:
• Owners chose to reuse the original bricks to maintain consistency with the building’s aesthetic.
• Each brick was carefully removed, cleaned, and set aside for reuse.
2. Structural Preparation:
• Scaffolding was erected to safely access the balconies.
• Sections of the building were propped and removed to install a new damp course in compliance with standards.
3. Waterproofing Solution:
• The Ardex Aqualay waterproofing system was applied throughout the balconies, ensuring long-term protection.
4. Upgrades & Finishing:
• Custom-made semi-commercial aluminum doors were installed, replacing the old timber doors.
• Balconies were retiled to complete the project.
Outcome:
The project successfully addressed the underlying issues while preserving the building’s original charm. The careful ex*****on ensured durability, functionality, and aesthetic appeal for the owners.
