Hello everyone. It’s been a while since I’ve posted anything. I’ve been flat out with the mowing, trenching and giving my poor flail mower a huge workout. I’ve done a couple of 10 acre properties to reduce fire risk. I’ve done property boundaries for fire protection, mowed horse paddocks. I’ve tilled several acres for a client to get grass in. Trenching for new power supply to a house and backfilling. It’s nice to get back to my normal electrical job to get a rest.

An annual job of prepping for a sunflower crop was a bit bigger this year. The last 2 years the owner had kept the grass short and ready to till. This year, like everyone, they have been overwhelmed with the rate the grass has been growing and along with being extremely busy at work, hasn’t the time to get it done. So a bit longer than usual, but it’s done. Flail mower and tiller, and it’s now seeded.

Another two properties have undergone mulching to mitigate fire risk. I opt to utilize a flail mower/mulcher on long grass as opposed to a slasher. It leaves an even layer of mulched grass that decomposes more efficiently and does not create wind rows like slashers. I firmly believe it yields superior results in tall grass.

Our objective for the day was to restore order to 4 acres of land that had been neglected for roughly 2 years. My eldest assisted by using the brush cutter to define the boundary and tackle inaccessible spots. With a few additional mows throughout spring and summer, the area should exhibit significant improvement.
