We are able to provide real time floor analysis to ensure a slab pour is precise and on target. Using Trimble Inc. Field Link, we are able to scan the slab as it’s being poured, capturing accurate high and low area data on the spot.

This allows us to immediately produce heat maps that highlight any variations, giving builders actionable insights during the pour. By identifying high and low spots in real time, adjustments can be made promptly, saving time and reducing potential rework.

Additionally, we can engage with your engineers directly if needed, ensuring that any critical level or compliance requirements are fully addressed. Our system ensures your project stays on schedule while maintaining the highest standards of accuracy.

Poured slabs can also be scanned to show builders the high and low points, along with the volume of material in these areas.

Supporting community clubs and our younger generation is something we feel passionate about at ModelTek.

Young gun Lucas has had a standout year with Launceston Football Club, along with impressive performances at state level for The Devils program.

We’ve been proud to sponsor him this season and couldn’t be more thrilled with the way he’s playing. Keep smashing it, mate. All the best with finals against South Launceston this week, let's hope to see you in that Grand Final.

Big thanks to Sarah Cocker at LFC for the action shots.

Zak, our youngest team member, has been utilising the drone to capture the build progress on site. It's been useful to capture this progress imagery that showcases how our steel and timber work comes together in collaboration with designers and engineers throughout the build.

Take a look at a few of our recent shots:

Discovery Early Learning Centres, Legana – a clever layout and design that’s been a pleasure to be involved with – we love the layout of this.

James Boag Brewery Experience – where we modelled the steelwork, and Zak even spent two days on site for some hands-on experience.

Alexandra Suspension Bridge – stunning aerial reflections, captured to showcase the refurbished bridge (and just for fun because we love this place).

UTAS Stadium - Providing a cost-effective, high-quality aerial solution for the inspection of the light towers by Collective Consulting.

As Zak puts it:

"Utilising the drone allows me to see the whole build – the work, the details – from a unique perspective."

Big things are happening across our projects, and it’s exciting to share them from new angles.

This project at Brighton High School is a great example of how early and thorough coordination can set a project up for success.

We modelled 5 buildings in total – A, B, C, D and E (with E being a mirror of D, so not shown here). These images are just snapshots of our detailed model, but we also worked with mechanical, architectural, and structural models where needed. The project is all complete and ran very smoothly.

As one of the first projects we delivered directly for a builder, Fairbrother, this build didn’t require scanning but did involve extensive modelling of structural steel, timber, and complex timber truss geometry. By getting the coordination right from day one, we streamlined the construction process and supported the delivery of a high-quality learning environment for the Brighton community.

If you’re planning a new build, let’s talk about how early-stage modelling and coordination can keep your projects on track, on time, and on budget.

Engaged by Top Cut to do the shop drawings of steel work and coordination of timber trusses. It is a pleasure to share our involvement in the Discovery Early Learning Centres Childcare Centre project that is well underway in Legana!

Well done 6ty Architecture Surveying Engineering for the architectural design and Beardwood Pty. Ltd. for the construction.

Recently, we had the pleasure of supporting two brilliant teams from Riverside High School who competed in the F1 in Schools STEM Nationals, held at St. Bede Catholic School, in Mentone, Victoria(30 May – 2 June).

This incredible nationwide event challenges high school students to design, engineer and race their own miniature F1 cars, bringing STEM learning to life in an exciting, hands-on way.

A huge congratulations to the Riverside High School team:

Zenith Zenith Team in the Professional Category placed 7th overall, and Blu Fin in the Development Category placed 4th. Blu Fin also took out the following:
🥇 Knockout Racing Champions
🥇 Best Manufactured Car
🥇 Fastest Lap
🥇 Best Industry Collaborations

We love being part of programs like this, that encourage clever, creative and innovative students to incorporate their STEM learning into practical applications (that are also heaps of fun!).

Start your next project off right with Trimble scanning.

When it comes to new builds, additions or refurbishments, there’s nothing worse than hidden surprises on-site. Our new Trimble X7 3D scanner takes out the guesswork, capturing every nook so you know exactly what you’re working with before design or construction begins.

For architects, this means accurate site data right from day one. More considered design choices, fewer site visits, and no second-guessing. For builders and contractors, it means clear coordination and less chance of rework down the track.

The Trimble scanner lets you:
Understand site conditions upfront
Accurately capture complex measurements
Get high-res 360° images and detailed reports
Share scans instantly with the whole team via the cloud

The result? A smoother, smarter job from first scan to final handover.

Architect Sam Haberle from S. Group places high value on our live 3D models, recognising their vital role in the design process. These models offer real-time insight into every detail of a build, for designers, contractors, and clients.

During the Novotel project in Devonport, this technology proved especially valuable, helping all involved clearly understand the structure and services, ultimately supporting a smooth and successful process.

Ingomar: A multi-storey residential development, completed in late 2024 in the heart of Hobart.

Developed by La Vie Collective and built by Oliver Kelly Group, Ingomar blends heritage charm with modern comfort. The original building (which is now home to 8 luxury residences) features 3.6m ceilings and restored 1890s detailing.

This refined and considered project on Patrick Street saw us engaged during the early stages to deliver clash detection and coordination modelling services.

Designed by the team at S. Group, with structural input from rare. & Collective Consulting and mechanical and hydraulic services by Engineering Solutions Tasmania (EST), the project brought together a standout group of local specialists.

We combined all design inputs into a single model to detect and resolve clashes early, making coordination across disciplines smoother and more efficient. We also integrated steel member shop drawings into the model, adding another layer of accuracy to support delivery on site.

The full redevelopment of Launceston’s iconic Alexandra Suspension Bridge at Cataract Gorge is a perfect example of why early scanning matters, especially for heritage structures.

Engaged by HB Engineering TAS Pty Ltd (working with Andrew Walters Construction), Modeltek used advanced scanning technology to capture precise details of the bridge, allowing the project team to plan and execute a highly sensitive refurbishment.

By scanning early in the process, we helped preserve the integrity of the original structure and ensured the upgrades of steel work, timber handrails, tie and tension bar repairs were done correctly.

Heritage, complexity, and location all made this one unique, but it has been a great project to be involved in.

Big thanks to City of Launceston, HB Engineering TAS Pty Ltd, Pro-Scaff, and rare. 🌉

Small Wonder Wines is likely familiar to many of you, but possibly not as you know it.

During construction in 2023, ModelTek delivered integrated 3D modelling and structural steel design for the winery, facilitating construction from the ground up.

By aligning structural and architectural elements, we integrated precast concrete, mechanical services, catwalks, and wine tanks. With site control established by the land surveyor, the 3D model facilitated real-time collaboration between the site crew and us, ensuring efficient setup and quick issue resolution. This streamlined process minimised delays and kept the project on track. Adam Anstie from Anstie Constructions states:

ModelTek has recently had the privilege of supporting Vos Group throughout the Launceston Health Hub development, starting with structural steel models and continuing with concrete panels, plumbing, HVAC, 3D scanning, clash detection, and BIM coordination.

This project included modelling for 152 precast panels, 50 precast columns, 16 precast stairs and a total of 34 tonnes of steelwork.

With seamless integration via Trimble Connect, we’ve worked hand-in-hand with the builder to ensure every element is modelled, reviewed, and refined.

Designed by the talented team at 6ty Architecture Surveying Engineering, this space is coming to life, take a look next time you drive along Wellington Street.
