Some projects come together in a way that is difficult to fully articulate.
This one did.

Charcoal. Sage green. Warm timber. Stone-toned bench tops. A palette that was considered from the first material selection to the last fitting and fixture — and one that holds together with the kind of quiet confidence that only comes from disciplined design decision-making throughout an entire build.
Every window in this home frames a view toward the South Gippsland coast and Wilsons Promontory beyond. The interior palette was built to honour that — never competing with what lies outside, always complementing it.

An extension designed entirely around how our clients wanted to live.

A fully integrated bar featuring suspended timber and black iron shelving with adjustable strip lighting, built-in refrigeration, w**e fridge, and a marble-finish back wall and bench top that carries through to the timber ceiling above and the flooring below. Hardware and cabinetry finished to the same exacting standard as every other room in this home.

Turn around and the space opens further — a fireplace, a pool table, and a homely lounge suite that makes leaving genuinely difficult.

This is what a well-considered extension delivers. Not just additional space — an entirely new dimension to how a home is lived in.

The benchmark for a custom build is set in the details.

Stone bench tops. Considered cabinetry. Hardware selected for longevity as much as aesthetics. And beyond the sink — a window that reminds you exactly why the location was chosen in the first place.
This is what bespoke looks like from the inside.

If you are considering a custom build, MDC Building Group would welcome the conversation.

The Flyover at Marcellin College is a 91m² gallery and elevated walkway connecting the college’s senior and junior schools.

Designed by Farrell Wray Architects, the structure wraps around a significant gum tree, with exposed off-form concrete, curved walls and arches inspired by St Marcellin Champagnat’s Hermitage in France. Every element remains on display, demanding a high level of accuracy and finish throughout construction.

Projects like this are a great example of what we enjoy most—working closely with architects to deliver complex, highly detailed buildings where quality matters.

Proud to see the project now featured on ArchDaily.

Light, material, and view — working together.

Black window frames. Dark timber floors. A concrete base beneath a double-sided fireplace that draws the eye straight through to the treeline beyond. Wall-mounted black lights casting light upward to the ceiling and downward to the floor, framing a picture window and the landscape it holds.

Every element in this space was chosen to complement the view.

MDC Building Group - Home Extension

Stone. Timber. White porcelain.

A vanity space where natural materials speak for themselves. Warm timber grain cabinetry, a wall-to-wall mirror, and a wide white basin set against a stone wall — each element selected for its texture and its restraint.

The details are in the timber. Up close, they always are.
