This recognition celebrates our work on St Patrick’s Parish in Pakenham, a stunning commercial project that exemplifies our commitment to quality, innovation, and architectural excellence.
 
Designed with precision and executed with meticulous attention to detail, St Patrick’s showcases the finest in contemporary commercial construction. The building’s bold geometric forms, rich material palette of brick and timber, and carefully considered lighting design create a space that is both functional and architecturally striking.

We’re thrilled to announce that MDC Building Group has been recognised as the Master Builders Victoria WINNER for Best Custom Home $2M–$4M! 
 
Our San Remo House project has taken out the award, and we couldn’t be more proud. This striking residence is expertly carved into its sloping site on Phillip Island, capturing panoramic views across Cape Woolamai whilst delivering a sophisticated balance of coastal luxury, functionality, and architectural precision. 
 
Designed by J Design Group and photographed by The Height Life ੈ♡˳·˖✶, this three-level home features layered living spaces, refined concrete finishes, and seamless indoor-outdoor connections that showcase the very best of custom home building.

MDC Building Group | Fish Creek, South Gippsland

A living and kitchen space defined by the quality of its materials and the scale of its outlook. Dark engineered timber flooring. Sandstone walls. Deep charcoal cabinetry anchored by a cream marble surround. A long, narrow suspended timber pendant above the kitchen island — considered in proportion, precise in placement.

At the centre of the space, a fireplace set upon a concrete base and structure. Around it, floor-to-ceiling windows framing uninterrupted views toward Wilsons Promontory.

MDC Building Group | Lees Road, Venus Bay

Stone, glass, and timber — the three materials that define this home extension, inside and out. Internally, the stone wall anchors the living space with weight and texture. Externally, the same stone cladding wraps the facade, framed by timber window joinery and floor-to-ceiling glass that reflects the landscape back on itself.

From above, the drone captures the full picture — the extension sitting seamlessly alongside the original home, and beyond it, the extraordinary setting that informed every material decision. Anderson Inlet to one side. Bass Strait to the other. Lush South Gippsland greenery connecting the two.

We had the pleasure of attending the Master Builders Victoria Eastern Regional Building Awards last night, alongside so many talented builders, designers, consultants and industry professionals.

We’re incredibly proud to have come home with two awards:

San Remo. Three storeys. Views straight across to Phillip Island.

This home is one of MDC Building Group’s nominations for the 2026 Master Builders Victoria Eastern Regional Awards — and the site alone tells you why it’s worthy of recognition.

Designed by J Design Group, the build demanded dramatic excavation, careful negotiation of council height restrictions, and relentless logistics on a slope this demanding. A suspended concrete slab delivers polished floors above and a column-free garage below, its underside left raw as exposed off-form concrete. Core-filled 292mm block work carries the load and the character. A suspended steel and timber staircase connects all three levels against a backdrop of exposed masonry.

Now complete and handed over to the client. A seriously considered build on a seriously difficult site.

The exterior of a home sets the standard before you ever step inside.

A clean concrete and minimalist square facade gives way to considered transition spaces — a heavy double sliding door revealing a sage green timber slat wall beyond, and an overhead canopy that connects the garage to the home while shielding the entry from the elements.

Functionality and design in equal measure. Every detail of this build resolved from the outside in.

A main bathroom where material selection does all the talking.

Slim vertical sage green tiles paired with oversized sandstone square tiles — a combination that is at once grounded and refined.

Deep green cabinetry beneath the vanity ties the palette back to the landscape visible through every window of this home.

The detailing is precise throughout. A freestanding bath with a statement vertical tap-ware. An overhead rain shower behind frameless glass. A vanity mirror and joinery finished to the same exacting standard as every other room in the build.

Nothing excessive. Nothing overlooked.
