Alpine towing is a different beast. If you're heading up the hill with your trailer this winter, here's everything you need to know for a safer trip. 🏔️❄️

1. Stopping distances multiply on snow and ice. On a slippery alpine descent, a trailer without proper brakes can push your whole rig straight through a corner.

2. Trailer sway is far more dangerous in low-traction conditions. Sway that's recoverable on dry bitumen can escalate to a jackknife before you can react when grip is gone.

3. Conditions on alpine roads change constantly, from an icy switchback heading up the mountain, to a slushy straight on the way back down.

4. Snow chain rules apply to your trailer. Many drivers forget that alpine chain requirements can extend to trailer wheels. Check before you go rather than when the ranger stops you!

5. Load low, spread evenly. An uneven trailer finds every slippery patch on the road. Check your tow ball weight before you leave.

Towing with an electric vehicle isn't the same as towing with a petrol car. There are real differences, and real risks if you're not set up correctly. ⚡️

1. Your range takes a hit. Towing with an EV can cut your usable range by 30–60%.

2. Regenerative braking is less effective under towing load. The system that powers your everyday braking becomes less effective when you've got a heavy trailer pushing from behind.

3. EVs are already heavier than their petrol equivalents. Add a trailer, and stopping distances become a real safety consideration.

4. Australian law requires brakes on trailers over 750kg GTM. If your trailer weighs more and doesn't have a compliant braking setup, your insurance could be void the moment something goes wrong.
