Built to weather the elements in an iconic location 🌊

This copper downpipe has spent years exposed to the coastal elements, and the result is a beautiful natural patina.

Copper naturally changes colour as it reacts with moisture and air, developing its characteristic blue-green tones over time. Although this reaction is caused by exposure to the elements, it actually forms a deeply protective layer over the original copper underneath, protecting it from the elements of rain and ocean spray & prevents corrosion.

It’s one of the reasons copper remains such a timeless choice for gutters, downpipes and architectural details.

It’s often the smaller details that bring a project together.

Our team fabricated these stainless steel handrails and balusters, custom-made to suit the space and complement the timber staircase.

A great example of how thoughtful fabrication can combine safety, functionality and a clean finished look.

Another custom job completed by the team at Sidney & Hacking.

Your roof works hard to protect your home - looking after it should be part of regular home maintenance.

With all the rain we've had across the Northern Rivers lately, now is the perfect time to check your roof for moss, algae and lichen.

These natural growths thrive in damp conditions and, if left untreated, can trap moisture, encourage debris to build up and contribute to blocked gutters and unnecessary wear over time.

A regular roof clean not only improves your home's appearance - it also helps protect one of its most important assets for years to come.

Call us to book in a roof cleaning, gutter clearing or general roof maintenance.

Notice something familiar in these two photos?

More than 100 years ago, this building was home to Sidney & Hacking's second Keen Street location. Today, while the business has long since moved on, the original milk tin can still be found sitting on the roof - a quiet reminder of the generations of craftsmanship that once operated below.

We may no longer call this building home, but a piece of Sidney & Hacking still remains.

Here at Sidney & Hacking, we've had the privilege of being involved in a number of incredible restoration projects throughout our local community following the 2022 floods.

One that holds a special place in our hearts was the restoration of the iconic Bell Tower overlooking the Northern Rivers Conservatorium.

We're grateful to be able to share these photos, capturing the Bell Tower before, during, and after its restoration. Seeing this local landmark returned to its former glory is a reminder of the resilience, determination and community spirit that has defined our region in the years since the floods.

We're proud of every project we undertake, but this one is especially meaningful. It was an honour to play a part in preserving a piece of Lismore's history for future generations.

Next time you're walking along Keen Street, don't forget to look up. ❤️

Did you know?

Brass is often referred to as a "living finish." Unlike painted or laminated surfaces, it develops a natural patina over time, creating a finish that's unique to each home and every family that uses it.

It's one of the reasons brass has remained a favourite in bespoke kitchens for generations.

That pothole might have done more damage than you think.

Cracks, bends, and impact damage can affect the safety and performance of your vehicle. The good news? Many rims can be professionally repaired.

If your wheel has seen better days, get in touch with our team to discuss your options.
