Successful transplant 👌👌👌 The first photos show the Japanese maple and weeping cherry on the day of transplantation. The second set, taken approximately one year later, shows both trees flourishing in their new locations.

Careful root handling, the use of premium garden mix and consistent aftercare supported their recovery. Regular watering, while avoiding waterlogging, encouraged new root development as the trees re-established.

After approximately one year, both trees are healthy, well established and thriving.

The same garden, 12 months apart.

Establishing plants beneath this mature rhododendron came with a few challenges. Heavy shade, dry, nutrient-poor soil and competition from established roots for moisture and nutrients made this a difficult area to get growing.

We improved the soil with organic garden mix and mushroom compost, applied Dynamic Lifter to supply nutrients, and used Seasol to support root establishment. Irrigation on a timer helped maintain more consistent soil moisture, while regular fertilising and mulching supported ongoing growth and reduced moisture loss.

The first photo shows the area before planting. Twelve months on, a variety of shade-tolerant plants are thriving, bringing colour and life to a once sparse garden bed.

We redesigned this garden, removing unwanted plants, including periwinkle and agapanthus, and introducing a mix of buxus, oakleaf hydrangea, daisies, Pink Princess lavender, iberis and phlox, with a rose as the centrepiece.

The aim was to keep the cottage garden feel, bringing together soft colours, varied textures and seasonal flowers. We finished with fertiliser, a Seasol treatment and sugar cane mulch to help retain moisture and support the new plants as they establish.

A recent pathway upgrade we completed, replacing the old timber edging with steel flat bar edging, adding fresh road base and crushed granite, and finishing off with cold patch asphalt bags . A refresh that keeps the path’s natural curves and suits the surrounding landscape.
