Perished washers on roofing screws can be the straw that breaks the camels back. A seemingly small issue can become a bigger problem. Regular roof inspections and maintenance will lessen the likelihood of water inundation through your roof from heavy rains and storms.
After severe storms check for sagging gutter sections/dislodged ridge caps/ flashings around vents and skylights/hail scarring/indentations and ponding of water or debri/ perished neo washers/water stains on ceilings and bubbling paint work.
Address problems as they arrive and book a qualified licensed tradesperson to inspect and attend to repairs. Roofers are in high demand after storms, so organizing a roof inspection before a storm arrives is a good idea.
Highly recommend reading the maintenance clause in any building/home insurance policy.
Document repairs/take photos of all storm damage in case you need to make an insurance claim. Prevent further water damage.
Do not attempt temporary patches to the roof yourself.
Contact the State Emergency Service (SES) on 132 500 if you need emergency assistance with storm damage.

With the severe hail storms late last year, many home owners/investors had to face shattered polycarbonate patios and skylights. If you haven't replaced your damaged polycarbonate roofing, now would be a good time to tackle that project before the summer/autumn tropical rains arrive.
Compliment the aesthetics of your home/outdoor living space and optimise your comfort level with the range of colours.
Available in Clear/Opal/Cream/Bronze or Grey tint.
If you are looking for a more solid colour choose from Platinum/Frost and Gun Metal.
Profiles - Corrugated: Greca and 5 Rib.
Stock lengths: 1800/2400/3000/3600/4200/4800/5400/6000/7200/9000
And remember you will need your Polyzip screws which are designed specifically for Polycarbonate roofing. Their shape allows for expansion and shrinking of your polycarb without tearing or cracking at the point of contact with the battens. A small investment in using the correct fastener will extend the life of your Polycarb roofing.
Our friendly team at A&D Discount Roofing can guide you to choose the right product for your home rebuild or repair.

The Queensland Challenge: Heat Transfer
In summer, your roof can reach scorching temperatures, and that heat is constantly looking for a way into your living space via the ceiling. In winter, any heat generated by your heater rapidly rises and escapes through the same route. This process is called heat transfer.
Your air conditioner or heater has to work overtime, consuming huge amounts of electricity, just to fight this constant thermal exchange.
Insulated batts are the affordable, effective solution that creates a crucial thermal barrier, stopping this unwanted transfer dead in its tracks.

The Power of the R-Value
When you purchase insulated batts, the most important specification you need to look at is the R-Value. This is a measure of the material’s resistance to heat flow (thermal resistance).
Higher R-Value = Better Insulation.
For Queensland’s climate, a higher R-Value is essential to combat the relentless summer heat. By installing batts with an adequate R-Value (often R3.0 to R4.0 or higher for ceilings, depending on specific building codes and orientation), you achieve several key benefits:
1. Reduced Heat Gain: The batts dramatically slow the rate at which heat radiates down from your hot roof space into the home.
2. Reduced Heat Loss: In winter, the batts trap the rising heat inside your home, keeping rooms warmer for longer.
This thermal regulation means your air conditioning or heating system doesn’t have to cycle as frequently or run as long, leading to direct, measurable savings on your electricity bill, month after month, year after year.

The Installation Advantage:
– Easy Handling: Batts are lightweight and come in pre-cut sections designed to fit standard joist spacing (usually 450mm or 600mm centres).
– Simple Placement: They are laid directly into the ceiling cavity between the joists. The main rule is ensuring the batts are fitted snugly with no gaps and are not compressed.
– Safety First: We always advise wearing appropriate safety gear – gloves, a mask, and protective eyewear when working in a roof space and handling insulation materials.

Beyond Energy Bills: Sound and Comfort
The benefits of proper insulation extend beyond just dollar savings. Good insulation batts also provide significant acoustic dampening, reducing external noise from traffic, planes, or storms, a huge bonus for suburban living.

Visit A & D Discount Roofing Supplies in Loganholme today. Our expert team can help you choose the right insulated batts and quantity you need to turn your home into an energy-efficient space.

Keep Your Cool (and Stay Warm!)
The biggest advantage of choosing an Insulated Patio Kit over a standard roof is right there in the name: insulation.
Our patio panels are manufactured with a high-density
insulating core sandwiched between two durable, pre-finished roofing sheets delivering powerful thermal benefits.
Cool in Summer: The core significantly reduces heat transfer from the roof surface into the space below. Say goodbye to that stifling, radiating heat common under single skin metal patios! You can actually enjoy a lunchtime barbecue or a relaxing afternoon coffee without melting.

Warm in Winter: The insulation helps retain heat, making your outdoor area more comfortable on cooler days. It also prevents condensation, keeping the space drier and cleaner all year round.

Designed for the D.I.Y Enthusiast
We supply all the components cut to size and ready to install, meaning less time spent cutting and measuring, and more time enjoying your new outdoor room!
When you purchase a kit from us, you’ll receive:
– Pre-engineered insulated panels
– All necessary beams, posts, and fixings
– Detailed, easy-to-follow instructions
– Guttering and downpipe components
The design simplicity ensures that with basic tools and a bit of elbow grease, you can achieve a professional, structurally sound finish. Plus, the ceiling side of the insulatedpanel comes pre-finished in a clean, attractive colour, giving you a beautiful, smooth
ceiling look without the need for extra cladding.

Flexibility and Flavour: Choose Your Style
Every home is different, and your patio should complement your existing architecture.
That’s why we offer flexibility in design:
– Free Standing Designs: Perfect for creating a completely new covered space away from the main house, perhaps over a pool deck or a garden entertaining area.
– Attached Designs: Seamlessly connect your new patio to your existing dwelling, creating a smooth transition from inside to out.
You can also choose from a variety of popular colour options for both the roof and the support posts, ensuring the finished product looks cohesive and stylish next to your Queenslander or modern brick home. And of course, being A & D Discount Roofing
Supplies, you can trust that our kits are competitively priced without compromising on quality or durability.
