This is your three-month reminder to test your safety switches!

Safety switches reduce the risk of an electric shock if there’s a fault in your electrical wiring or electrical equipment.

For more information on testing your safety switches, check out our website:

Regardless of whether you own or rent, you should consider having safety switches installed on all circuits. Safety switches protect you, your family and anyone visiting the property from electric shock.

Sure! Safety switches are an important part of domestic switchboards as they help protect people from electric shock. According to AS/NZS 3000:2018, which is the Australian/New Zealand Wiring Rules standard, safety switches must be installed on all final sub-circuits that supply socket-outlets and lighting points in residential buildings¹.

The standard also mandates that switchboards must be labelled with the location of each final sub-circuit and the type of protective device used for each circuit¹.

Electrical installation work must now comply with the new edition of AS/NZS 3000 Wiring Rules.

This past year, we’ve all experienced uncertainty and isolation. For kids living with serious illness, this is something they feel every day. Starlight's mission is to brighten the lives of sick kids and their families when it matters most. We help kids simply be kids by turning pain, fear and stress into fun, joy & laughter.

Challenge yourself and your friends to GO BIG for sick kids this November. Walk, run or roll as far as you can in 30 days. How big will you go?

It’s our favourite event of the month!!!
It’s Meadowbrook parkrun’s pacer week!!!
We love helping you chase your goals and achieve a new PB!!

Sadly, yet again, our pacers weeks has been dampened with wet weather. We are good to go at this stage but please check our page in the morning for updates. With a night of rain ahead, we will do a course check early and advise if we have any safety concerns.

But with all going well 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻, we will see you all tomorrow.

* 6:40 ~ Volutneers and pacers to arrival please
* 6:50 ~ Volutneers and pacers photo
* 6:50 ~ First Timers Briefing
* 6:55 ~ Main Run Briefing
* 7:00 ~ parkrun starts!!!

A very big thank you to all our amazing volunteers, we honestly can’t do this week in and week out, without your help… THANK YOU!!

Look forward to hearing the PB bell ringing tomorrow. But remember, the most important thing is having fun and enjoying the morning with your parkrun community.

See you tomorrow,

Simone (RD), Nev (VC) and the Meadowbrook parkrun event team!!!

Huge congratulations to Ryan Mooyman from Mooyman Electrical Services who was our Speaker at our NRG Brisbane Connect Group yesterday.

Ryan shared with us about his amazing 104 kilometre run on Sunday.
The Guzzler Ultra he had been in a systemised training schedule for 26 weeks to prepare for it.

We were all totally fascinated by his story about this experience.

COVID-19 is rapidly changing the way we live and work every day, and telecommuting (working from home), is becoming the new reality for many of us.

Home based offices are considered a workplace under work health and safety laws so it’s important for workers and employers to work together to identify and minimise work health and safety risks at home.

You must consider the following to ensure your safety at home when using electrical equipment:

Check to see if you have a safety switch installed and that it is operational by pressing the test button before you initially start work from home and every three months thereafter
Check out how to see if you have a safety switch at https://www.worksafe.qld.gov.au/safetyswitches/safety-switch-films
Carry out a visual inspection of all electrical equipment in your home office.
Check for cuts, nicks or exposed conductors on any cords.
Check equipment for visible damage (broken covers, overheating discolouration).
Either discard any damaged equipment or have it repaired by an appropriately licensed electrical worker. Do not attempt to repair faulty equipment yourself.
Ensure leads and power boards are placed where they will not get damaged by moving furniture, chairs, foot traffic or other activities.
To avoid overheating and fire risks, don’t place papers or other items against air vents of equipment or cover equipment such as power boards or power supplies.
Don’t cover or stack up equipment under charge (e.g. phones to laptops).
Don’t permit children to touch or play with electrical cords and make sure electrical cords are not dangling from benches or within your child’s reach.
Ensure power boards and outlets are not overloaded (e.g. don’t plug in several room heaters into one power board) and are not placed where they may be splashed with liquids.

Safety switches are often confused with circuit breakers and fuses, but they perform different tasks. Safety switches monitor the flow of electricity through a circuit and turn off the power in a fraction of a second if a leakage of current is detected. Safety switches provide personal protection ag...
