🚁🚁🚁Heads up (and we mean this quite literally ): – we’ll be flying low over the electricity network in parts of 𝗦𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗲𝘁, 𝗕𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗯𝗮𝗻𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗟𝗼𝗰𝗸𝘆𝗲𝗿 𝘃𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝘆𝘀, 𝗧𝗼𝗼𝘄𝗼𝗼𝗺𝗯𝗮, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝘂𝗻𝗻𝘆 𝗖𝗼𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗵𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱 in the next few days.

Our choppers will be patrolling powerlines in and around
Toowoomba, Coominya, Glen Esk, Postmans Ridge, Esk, Toogoolawah, Somerset Dam, Kilcoy, Woodford, Beerwah, Maleny, Wamuran, and Caboolture West, checking for general maintenance issues and part of our preparation for network upgrades. While we need to fly very low over lines in places, we’ll do our best not to disturb livestock or residents.

To help the public better understand the current inspections being carried out on private property poles within SE Qld, I will try to explain in short

In 2014 in Western Australia a private property fell over, which was badly deteriorated. The first property pole and subsequent poles are the responsibility on the land owners.

The pole that fell over in the Perth Hills of WA caused 57 Homes to be destroyed, damaged another six and burnt through 396 hectares of land. The total damage bill over $13 million dollars.

This is not the only time a property pole has fallen over and caused a major fire and extensive damage to property.

As the Energex service is connected to the first pole, Energex is helping to identify poles that require attention.
Many of these poles are well over 30 years old.
